Kesha Reveals Special Meaning Behind Grammys Red Carpet Look

This time, Kesha is more than happy to keep it on.

Let me tell you, the stunning white, feathered gown Samara Joy wore to the 2026 Grammys wasn’t just a beautiful fashion moment – it actually held a really special meaning. It was so lovely to see her express herself through such a thoughtful choice!

Kesha told Zuri Hall of TopMob News on the red carpet that she was inspired by the goddess Athena for her look. She explained that this was her first Grammy weekend as someone who fully owns her work and voice – now a record label head herself – and she wanted her appearance to reflect her newfound freedom and inner strength.

Now that Kesha launched her own record label, Kesha Records, in 2024, she completely owns all the music she creates.

Kesha stunned in a bold, off-the-shoulder dress, styled by Wilford Lenov, proving she’s a major presence in the fashion world. (You can see all the memorable red carpet looks here.)

Okay, so owning ALL her masters is amazing, obviously, but did you HEAR? She just paid tribute to Mariah Carey at the MusiCares gala on January 30th! Like, MY queen honoring THE queen? I’m seriously living for it. It was such a perfect moment, and I’m still obsessed thinking about it!

Kesha praised Mariah Carey as a true icon, noting her resilience and grace in navigating the challenges of the music industry. She shared that Carey is a major inspiration to her as a woman working in music.

Singing for her was definitely nerve-wracking, she said, because she was such an incredible singer. But I just wanted to express my admiration for her through my performance.

And the best part? “She actually started following me on Instagram,” Kesha shared, “which is a really big deal to me.”

Kesha’s song “Dear Me,” created for the documentary Diane Warren: Relentless by Diane Warren, was nominated for Best Original Song at the Academy Awards.

Kesha shared that Diane, a legendary songwriter, invited her to contribute to a documentary about Diane’s life. Kesha said the song she performed resonated deeply, explaining it’s about sending a message of hope to your younger self during difficult times – essentially telling yourself that things will eventually get better.

It feels particularly fitting that Kesha, now able to express herself freely at the Grammys, is discussing that song.

“I wish I could write a note to my younger self,” she added, “and I’d say, It’s gonna be okay.'”
