Kim Kardashian is detailing a personal betrayal.
Kim Kardashian recently discussed the aftermath of the armed robbery she experienced in Paris in October 2016. On a recent episode of The Kardashians, she revealed a painful comment her then-husband made to her afterward. (Although she didn’t mention him by name, Kim was married to Kanye West at the time.)
Kim revealed on the reality show that even her ex-husband accused her of staging a robbery for publicity, saying, ‘And you faked your robbery for a TV show,’ right in front of a crowd. She described the comment as deeply hurtful.
Visibly upset, the 45-year-old went on to say, “It really bothered me to think someone close to me—someone who should know me and understand how deeply this impacted my life—wouldn’t believe me. It made me feel like they didn’t know me at all.”
Honestly, it was so frustrating to see people even suggesting anything about what happened! Even Kris and Khloe, like, they had to come out and say how wrong and upsetting all the rumors were. It was just awful, and I was so glad they defended themselves and the family!
It just breaks my heart hearing Khloe talk about this! She said people seriously doubted her, like they thought she was making things up, and it happened right around them! Can you imagine? It’s just… awful. She said it was ‘gross’ and honestly, I totally agree. How could anyone question her?! It’s just so upsetting to think people didn’t believe her when she was sharing something so personal.
Kris strongly defended her second oldest child, dismissing suggestions that the child had fabricated the claims. She found it unbelievable anyone would even suggest such a thing, calling the idea ridiculous and unthinkable.

Following the verdicts, Kim thanked French authorities for “pursuing justice.”
She stated that the crime was deeply traumatic for both her and her family, an experience she’ll never forget. Despite this, she expressed hope for healing and believes in the importance of personal growth and taking responsibility. She remains dedicated to fighting for justice and a fair legal system for everyone.

Kim explained that facing skepticism from both people she knows and the general public was a major reason she felt it was so important to travel to Paris in May 2025 to give testimony in the trial related to the robbery – a crime that happened nearly ten years prior.
She remembered thinking, ‘Finally, I’ll get to trial and hear what these people have to say – their side of the story and, hopefully, an apology.’ She said it would feel like validation, proving that what happened to her was real. Ultimately, she expressed relief that the ordeal was finished.
Of the ten people on trial, eight were convicted of crimes connected to the incident. The leader, Aomar Ait Kedach, was found guilty of theft with a weapon and unlawful imprisonment.

Kim Kardashian stopped posting personal updates on social media after being robbed at gunpoint in Paris on October 3, 2016. She didn’t return to sharing personal content until January, which coincided with the promotion of the new season of Keeping Up With the Kardashians. The season, which began airing in March 2017, included Kim’s first public discussion of the robbery.
While temporarily working with officials in Paris, she decided to finally speak out on her family’s reality show, TopMob.
Kim Kardashian told Kourtney and Khloe that she was lying in bed, half-asleep in her robe, and trying to decide whether to get up and wash her face when the robbery happened. Kourtney was sharing a room with Kim on the trip but wasn’t there at the time of the incident.
She heard someone running up the stairs towards her room and yelled out, assuming it was Kourtney and her friend returning home after drinking.
Kim explained that she felt a wave of anxiety when she didn’t get a response. “It felt like a knot in my stomach, and I immediately knew something was off,” she shared.

She glanced through her slightly open door and saw what appeared to be police officers restraining a man. It turned out the man was actually the building’s concierge.
Oh my god, it was awful! Kim suddenly froze, she didn’t even know how to dial 911 from a different country! And then, one of them – one of the guys pretending to be a police officer – just walked in, snatched her phone right out of her hand, and threw her onto the bed! I can’t even imagine how terrified she must have been.
She told her sisters that she knew this was the moment of truth. She remembered feeling deeply distressed, realizing she faced a terrible choice: either she would be killed, or if she survived, there would be no escape for them.
Of the jewelry she lost, “It’s all replaceable, none of it matters.”

Before the March 19 episode premiered, Kim explained sharing her story in this way.
She shared a final family photo from Paris on Instagram, saying tonight’s episode will be difficult to watch. She explained she wanted to tell her story directly, rather than risk her words being misinterpreted in an interview. This experience was incredibly impactful, and while she wouldn’t want anyone to go through it, she’s grateful for the lessons learned and happy to be safely home with her family. She expressed deep gratitude to her friends, family, and the French police for their support and hard work.

Kim said on an episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians in May 2017 that she didn’t expect the robbers to be caught. She was surprised, considering how much time had passed, but realized the French police had been working very hard and diligently on the case, leading to the January arrests of 17 suspects.
Honestly, learning just how many people were involved and hearing all the specifics really shifted my thinking on what it means to feel truly safe. It gave me a completely new perspective – I hadn’t realized how interconnected safety is with knowing you’re not alone.
In the end, 12 people were accused of wrongdoing. Ten of them were scheduled to go to trial in May 2025. However, one suspect passed away before the trial, and another was considered too sick to participate.

Kim explained on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in April 2017 that, while it might seem strange, she believed the events in her life were meant to happen. She felt she’d become a very different person and that life experiences are meant to be lessons. She admitted to being very focused on possessions and appearances in the past, but now she’s happy to be raising her children with different values. She’s proud of those who achieve success, but she personally no longer prioritizes material things.
Okay, so you remember her, right? The one who always had to be dripping in diamonds? She brought, like, her entire jewelry collection with her to Paris! But get this – she seriously told everyone, “That’s just not me anymore.” I mean, really? It’s like she’s trying to pretend that wasn’t her for years, but I remember! It’s so weird.

Kim Kardashian recently told Ellen DeGeneres that she wishes she’d hired around-the-clock security earlier. She admitted she didn’t used to worry about it, but now keeps several security guards with her just to feel safe enough to sleep.

Kim avoided visiting Paris for a while, but she went back in June 2018 with her then-husband, Kanye West. They were there to support their friend Virgil Abloh at his first fashion show as the new menswear designer for Louis Vuitton.
Kim told Khloe and Kourtney that, despite her own anxiety, she believed it was crucial for Kanye to make the trip. She felt it was the best way to honor Virgil.
In a private moment on Keeping Up With the Kardashians, she shared her hope that the trip to Paris would help her reconnect with happy memories of the city and remember why she and Kanye loved it so much.
After returning to Los Angeles, Kim told her sisters she’d been mostly okay throughout the trip, though she did feel anxious at times.
“It was so good,” she said. “Like, honestly, I’m so glad we went.”

Even though Kim discovered a new sense of purpose and reevaluated her priorities after the robbery, it was still a deeply frightening event.
She described the experience, during a 2019 appearance on Felony Files, as the most terrifying moment of her life. She recalled fearing for her life, anticipating being shot, and bracing for the worst. Those ten minutes, she said, profoundly changed everything.

Kim shared her story with David Letterman in an October 2020 episode of his show, My Next Guest Needs No Introduction.
Kim described being woken up by two masked men shouting at her in French, repeatedly demanding, “The ring, the ring!” She was initially confused, but then understood they wanted her engagement ring, which she’d left near the bed. She handed it over, and one of the men grabbed her. She was only wearing a robe at the time and had nothing underneath.
Blinking back tears, Kim added, “I don’t want to ruin my makeup.”
Kim explained that he pulled her close, and realizing she wasn’t wearing any clothes underneath, she feared she was about to be assaulted. She described bracing herself for the attack, accepting it was going to happen. Becoming emotional as she recounted the experience—despite having shared it before—she continued, saying he then restrained her with handcuffs, zip ties, and duct tape, ultimately gagging and blindfolding her with more duct tape.
Kim recalled that before the intruder covered her eyes, he’d discovered her jewelry box and proudly displayed it, as if to say, ‘We got it!’ She kept looking at the concierge—who had been forced to unlock her door at gunpoint—because she didn’t recognize him and was terrified. She pleaded, ‘What’s happening? Are we going to die?’ She begged the intruder to let her go, explaining she had children, a husband, and a family waiting for her at home. She offered to let him take everything, promising she wouldn’t report him if he just let her live.

Kim Kardashian told David Letterman that during the robbery, she kept thinking about her sister, Kourtney. She imagined Kourtney coming home to find her dead, and the lasting trauma that would cause. They were sharing a bedroom, and Kim felt she was facing her destiny.
She explained that one man, who wasn’t the one with the gun, repeatedly said things like, ‘Quiet down, if you’re quiet, you’ll be alright.’
“He could hardly speak English,” Kim added, “but I was like, ‘Okay, is he giving me a signal?’”
Kim joked that she’s seen every episode of CSI, and while she tried to memorize her attacker’s face for the police, she said it was impossible – her mind went blank.
Kim stated that after being restrained, the man lifted her and placed her in a bathtub. He then picked her up again, set her on the floor, and fled.

Kim Kardashian revealed on The Kardashians that she stopped wearing jewelry after being robbed in Paris. Despite receiving a beautiful cross necklace from Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana in the fall of 2022 – a gift for her work as creative director of their Spring-Summer 2023 show – she explained she wasn’t emotionally prepared to wear jewelry again. She said the robbery was a turning point, and she realized she was ready to let go of material possessions.
She explained that receiving the necklace meant more than just getting a piece of jewelry. It felt like regaining a part of her confidence and past success, making its return after a significant event especially meaningful to her.
