Kim Kardashianand Kris Jennerare taking legal action against Ray J.
The former stars of Keeping Up With the Kardashians are taking legal action against the R&B singer (whose full name is William Ray Norwood Jr.) for damaging their reputation. This lawsuit, seen by Rolling Stone, claims he falsely stated that a federal criminal racketeering investigation had been opened against them.
In the TMZ documentary series United States vs. Sean Combs, which debuted in May, Ray J suggested that the Kardashians could potentially face racketeering charges. He stated, “If I found out the Kardashians were being charged for racketeering, I wouldn’t be surprised.”
Currently, Kim and Kris are strongly refuting statements made by her former partner, which they claim are clearly untrue.
According to their lawyer, Alex Spiro, Kris Jenner and Kim Kardashian have never filed a defamation lawsuit or paid attention to rumors. He told TopMob News on October 1st that this particular false and damaging claim forced them to take action.
In the legal document, Kim and Kris stated that the “One Wish” singer’s remarks in the documentary came before further statements he made on September 24th during a live stream. These included, “The federal RICO case I’m preparing to bring against Kris and Kim will be significant” and “federal authorities are investigating.”
According to the lawsuit, Ray J reportedly compared a potential investigation into the Kardashians to the federal racketeering trial involving Sean “Diddy” Combs, claiming the investigation into the Kardashians would be “worse than Diddy.”
Kim and Kris think the claims made by Ray J are connected to his long-running issues with their family. The documents state he seemingly can’t move on from his brief romance with Ms. Kardashian, which ended over 20 years ago. This comes after the release of his infamous 2002 sex tape with Kim, which became public just months before the 2007 debut of Keeping Up With the Kardashians.
They are asking for an undetermined amount of money to cover both the damage to their reputations and to punish the responsible parties. This includes compensation for harm to both their personal and professional lives.
TopMob News has reached out to a rep for Ray J for comment and has not yet heard back.
