Kim Kardashian is sharing her side.
Three years after finalizing her divorce from Kanye West, Kim Kardashian discussed how she and Kanye are co-parenting their four children: North, 12, Saint, 9, Chicago, 7, and Psalm, 6.
She told Alex Cooper on the October 15th episode of *Call Her Daddy* that she’s the primary caregiver for her children. She emphasized that her kids live with her and she actively fosters a positive relationship between them and their father. She makes sure he’s involved, but also protects her children when necessary, explaining that the dynamic naturally has its ups and downs and requires a lot of effort.
Kim said she’ll continue to let their four children see Kanye whenever he wants to, but she also mentioned it’s been a long time since they’ve had a visit.
She said it had likely been about two months since they last heard from him. They were aware he had a history of extensive travel, was previously on tour, and generally enjoyed living in various countries. They’ve become accustomed to his lifestyle and are handling it well.
Kim Kardashian made it clear she always encourages her children to spend time with their father, regardless of anything he may have said online.
Honestly, it really bothers me when people say I try to keep my kids away from their father. It’s completely untrue! I’ve actually wished so many times I *could* show everyone our messages, because I’m constantly encouraging them to spend time with him and have a relationship. I really do want them to hang out and be close.
She explained that everything seemed normal and they were going about their lives, but then she woke up to find accusations online that she’d kidnapped her children. She clarified that it wasn’t a kidnapping, but rather a consequence of their divorce.
Kim stated that she always allows her children to visit their father, explaining, “That’s simply my nature.”
As a longtime follower, I’ve been keeping up with everything, and it seems Kim has said she’d only really get involved if Kanye was going through a serious mental health struggle. But she also explained that when he’s not well, he often doesn’t want to spend time with the kids anyway, so things have usually resolved themselves naturally.
TopMob News has reached out to Kanye’s reps for comment and has not heard back.
Ultimately, though, Kim admitted she is just trying to do what is best for their kids.
She explained that her children thrive on consistency and a predictable schedule. As a mother, her main goal is simply to ensure they maintain that routine and remain healthy and happy.
Despite current challenges with co-parenting Kanye, Kim is hopeful their relationship will improve over time.
She remembered her mother telling her, ‘It takes about five years after a divorce for everyone to adjust and be able to get along as friends.’ She added that while she wants positive relationships with everyone, it’s definitely not always simple.

She once wrote that being a mother is a wonderful gift, but she’s seen firsthand with her own mom that it’s challenging, particularly when also working. She feels proud to follow in her mother’s footsteps and hopes to make her as proud as she is of her.
Kim, who filed for divorce in 2021, recently told GQ that the most important thing is for her children to feel loved and understood. She explained that you have to be considerate of their feelings, as going through a divorce is difficult for children of any age.
You know, my daughter recently had the sweetest thing to say. She told me, ‘Dad, you’re the best!’ She was noticing how I do things differently – no nanny, no chef, no constant security detail, and I live in a simple apartment. Then, she got a little upset and asked why *we* didn’t have an apartment like that! It was a really touching moment, realizing she appreciates the normalcy and simplicity of my life, and it made her question why we don’t live that way too.
During a November 2023 episode of The Kardashians, Kim playfully mentioned that her sister Kourtney believes Kim’s daughter, North, is meant to be a learning experience for her.
My oldest daughter is really teaching me about patience,” she said with a smile. “She’s taught me so much about life in general.
In a 2018 essay for Wealthsimple, she shared her concerns about spoiling her children. She explained that they don’t receive gifts unless they’ve truly earned them, and that she and her family frequently discuss the importance of staying grounded and developing into well-rounded individuals rather than accumulating possessions.
In 2018, during a photoshoot for Calvin Klein, she explained that becoming a mother completely shifts your priorities. You suddenly only focus on what’s happening with your family at home, and everything else seems much less important.
Kim Kardashian emphasized the importance of family, saying, “Truly, nothing else matters. Focusing on family helps keep you balanced and centered.”
Kim shared in an interview with Mobio Insider that having a child completely transformed her life. She explained that your priorities shift dramatically, and suddenly, your family becomes everything.
Kim wrote in a 2017 blog post that her love for her children is unwavering. She expressed that she will always love and support them, no matter what paths they take in life.
Being a mom also shined new light on her own upbringing.
Growing up, my family was incredibly close. Now that I’m a mother myself, I finally understand the deep connection my parents had with us. Being a mom definitely has its challenges, but I learn something new from my kids every day. It’s the most fulfilling role I’ll ever have.
Okay, so I *love* sharing my life with everyone, I really do! But after everything that happened in Paris, I’ve had to get a little smarter about it. I’ve learned the hard way that posting things *as* they happen isn’t always the best idea. Now, I’ll take a picture, maybe save it for a bit, and post it later – when I’m already somewhere safe. Honestly, sharing *every single detail* in the moment just didn’t work out for me, and I’m definitely more careful now.
After having a baby, I took some time off work and struggled to return because I didn’t want to be away from my child,” she told TopMob News after North West was born. “But you learn to adapt, focus on what’s most important, and make it work!”
Back in 2017, on *The Real*, Kim explained she needed to sort things out before sharing anything publicly. She added that if there was something to celebrate – specifically, the baby – she wanted the focus to be on the child. Her priority was talking to her kids and figuring out how to explain the situation to them first.
She expressed deep gratitude, saying in a 2017 episode of *Keeping Up With the Kardashians* that she was incredibly thankful for someone who was so selfless and kind enough to do something for her.
Some moms prefer to keep breastfeeding private, while others are comfortable doing it in public. As I’ve learned as a mom, I believe whatever feels right for you is the best approach,” she shared in a post on her app in January 2015.
The reality star shared with TopMob News back in 2015 that they often talk about their new baby brother. She recounted a sweet moment from the day before, when her daughter asked, ‘Mommy, can I kiss the baby on your tummy?’ and then gently kissed her stomach.
Kim described her daughter North as “really sweet” and shared that North used to get upset when she held other babies, but has been improving.
She added, “I’m hoping that with her brother it’s a whole new experience.”
In a 2015 episode of *Keeping Up With the Kardashians*, Kim expressed her gratitude, saying, “I’m so thankful for this pregnancy – it truly feels like a miracle, and I feel incredibly blessed.”
In June 2015, while pregnant with her second child, Kim tweeted a playful message: “Pregnant KiKi does not play!!!! *BLOOP!*”
Kim shared a sweet message in June 2015, saying moments like being on tour with her husband were the highlights of her life. She praised him as a wonderful father to their daughter North and expressed her excitement for him to be an amazing father to their soon-to-be-born son as well.
Back in July 2015, while expecting her son Saint, Kim Kardashian tweeted about how she actually enjoyed the gossip that she was pretending to be pregnant, especially since she was so slim at the time. She jokingly admitted, “Well, I can’t hide it now!” and revealed she was five months along (20 weeks) and had gained 20 pounds.
She shared with TopMob News in November 2015 that getting pregnant was a difficult journey, making her feel incredibly grateful to be expecting. She added that all the challenges were completely worth it in the end.
The reality star responded to online criticism about her pregnancy, after some people accused her of faking it. She shared a nude selfie and wrote that she’s been criticized for both being ‘too skinny’ and ‘too big,’ adding a frustrated face emoji.
She shared in an August 2015 Instagram post that every body and every pregnancy is unique. She also said she’s learned to appreciate her body throughout all stages of life.
Oh my god, back in November 2015, she *hinted* about what she wanted if she got pregnant! She basically said she *needed* another Lorraine Schwartz diamond choker – you know, like the ones she rocks at the Art + Film Gala? She even joked it might be ‘too much,’ but honestly, could anything ever be too much when it comes to her and diamonds? I just *have* to have everything she has!
Kim Kardashian shared on Twitter in 2015 that having her daughter is the most important thing she’s ever accomplished. She explained that once you become a parent, your priorities completely shift, and your child becomes everything.
Oh my gosh, Kim said it perfectly back in 2015! Before Chicago, Saint, and Psalm came along, she tweeted that having her first daughter was *everything* – her biggest accomplishment, honestly. She said everything you used to obsess over just… fades away. Like, suddenly your kid is the absolute *only* thing that matters, your number one priority. I totally get it, even just reading that! It’s just… everything changes, you know?
She playfully commented on Instagram in October 2015 that she felt very thin being surrounded by so many supermodels, adding a laughing emoji and the hashtag #InStyleAwards.
Kim Kardashian repurposed the Givenchy dress she famously wore to the 2013 Met Gala – while pregnant with North – as a Halloween costume during her pregnancy with Saint.
“Still fits,” she captioned an October 2015 snapshot. “I think I nailed the Kim K costume!”
