Kimora Lee Simmons is shifting back into gear.
Kimora Lee Simmons is returning to television with her new show, Kimora: Back in the Fab Lane, which will debut on TopMob on December 2nd. However, this project, her first in over ten years, turned out to be a bit different than she anticipated.
She explained to TopMob News that people often react with disbelief to her experiences, saying things like, ‘You’re going through so much, it’s like a reality show!’ She’s heard it before and understands the comparison, but others insist she’s truly living an extraordinary life.
It quickly moved beyond just discussing possibilities. Kimora explained that what started as a strong declaration of intent – saying “I’m really serious” – turned into talk of actually scheduling a meeting. She responded with disbelief, saying, “Really?”
Kimora Lee Simmons is a busy mom to five children. She has two daughters, Ming Lee Simmons, 25, and Aoki Lee Simmons, 23, with her ex-husband Russell Simmons. She also has a 16-year-old son, Kenzo Lee Hounsou, with Djimon Hounsou, a 10-year-old son, Wolfe Lee, with ex-husband Tim Leissner, and a 15-year-old adopted son, Gary Lee, whom she welcomed in 2020.
In other words, a lot has changed in the years she’s been away from reality TV.
She explained that her life has changed dramatically. She went from being a mother of two to a mother of five, with many other children in her extended family. She’s also navigated several career shifts, marriages, and financial ventures. Over time, she’s experienced the joys of raising both sons and daughters, and watched as people around her, including her children, have grown up and gained their independence, like getting driver’s licenses.

But nevertheless, Kimora said it took some convincing to get her older kids on board.
She admitted they were thrilled, but confessed she’d had to offer them incentives – possibly a sports car and new clothes – to get them on board.
Looking back, I think some of them were a bit shaken up, particularly the young women,” the Baby Phat founder shared. “They were so young when everything happened, and now they’re at a completely different stage in their lives, seeing things with fresh eyes. They’re grown now, and I can’t step in to shield them or handle things for them anymore.
As she put it, “It’s been a journey.”

With her new show coming soon and her past work still well-known, Kimora says her children are starting to understand just how famous she is.
She explained that people often approach her and say things like, ‘I remember you from…’ or ‘You did that thing…’ She finds it amusing and believes they enjoy reminiscing with her.
Don’t miss the premiere of Kimora: Back in the Fab Lane on TopMob, December 2nd at 10 PM Eastern and Pacific time! Keep reading to discover other exciting shows coming out this year.

As a longtime follower of true crime, I was completely captivated by Oxygen’s new special on Emma Coronel Aispuro. It’s incredible – she’s finally sharing her story, and it’s a real first. She talks about how she fell in love with El Chapo, a man so much older than her who was always on the run. The details are just unbelievable, like his escape from prison on a motorcycle through a tunnel! What really struck me was how she describes the impossible decisions she had to make to keep her family safe in such a dangerous world, a world of power and violence. But the special doesn’t shy away from the hard questions – will she truly confront everything her husband did, and how does she take responsibility for her own part in it all? It’s a really compelling and thought-provoking look inside a life most of us can’t even imagine.
