Another member of King Charles III‘s family was recently diagnosed with cancer.

India Hicks, who is related to the British royal family and is a goddaughter to a member of the monarchy, recently revealed she was treated for skin cancer.

I recently received the results from a skin cancer surgery, and unfortunately, the news wasn’t good,” the 58-year-old shared on December 2nd. “It wasn’t a crisis, but it was definitely worrying—the kind of news that makes everything feel a little out of focus.

Honestly, when I heard the news, it was so weird. I think I reacted like everyone else – trying to be normal, you know? I was all calm and practical on the outside, making a cup of tea, answering emails… but inside, I was absolutely terrified. There was this little voice in my head, just repeating, what if this is really, really bad? It’s hard to explain, but it was a strange mix of trying to cope and being completely scared. It’s just… a lot to take in, especially with family connections to Prince Philip and everything.

India shared that she had an urgent surgery in Miami to remove cancerous skin using a Mohs procedure.

She told People magazine that the procedure wasn’t too painful, but having an open cut in her leg while they tested the tissue was unsettling. The worst part, she said, was the wait for the results.

Like most people, I responded with a strange combination of staying calm and being secretly frightened,” explained the daughter of 96-year-old Lady Pamela Hicks, a first cousin of the late Prince Philip. “You try to act normal – make tea, answer emails – but inside, you’re worried it could be much worse than you imagine.

Charles’ goddaughter, who was a bridesmaid at his wedding to Princess Diana in 1981 when she was 13 years old, received her cancer diagnosis over a year after both King Charles and Kate Middleton were diagnosed and began treatment. Kate announced earlier this year that her cancer is now in remission.

In September, while visiting cancer patients at a hospital in England, Prince Charles briefly mentioned his own health. According to Hello! magazine, when asked how his recovery was going, he replied, “I’m not too bad.”

“It’s often hard to catch it early enough,” explained 73-year-old Matthew Shinda. “But I’m encouraged that doctors are getting more skilled at treating these conditions.”

Following Prince Andrew’s decision to step down from using his Duke of York title, King Charles III announced that Prince Andrew would also lose his home at Royal Lodge and be removed from his position as a Prince.

Buckingham Palace announced today that King Charles has begun the process of stripping Prince Andrew of his royal titles and honors. He will now be known simply as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor.

After talking with The King and my family, I’ve decided the ongoing accusations against me are taking attention away from the important work of His Majesty and the Royal Family,” Prince Andrew said in a statement. “As I’ve always done, I’m prioritizing my family and country. I continue to stand by my decision to step back from public duties, which I made five years ago.”

Andrew stated that, with the King’s approval, he was taking things a step further by relinquishing his royal title and any honors he’d received. He reiterated that he strongly denied all accusations made against him.

After a 19-month absence, Prince Harry was spotted arriving at Clarence House—the King’s home in London—likely to visit his father before attending another event in the city.

Harry arrived at the house around 5:20 p.m. on September 10th, but Charles had come back just a few hours earlier.

Princess Anne’s son and his former husband, Mark Phillips, announced their engagement to Harriet Sperling on August 1st, after dating for over a year.

The couple’s representative told Hello! magazine that both families were told together and were very happy about the engagement.

Just a day before turning 78, the royal was made an honorary Vice Admiral by the Royal Navy.

Camilla is the first woman to receive this honorary title. It’s awarded only by the monarch – in this case, her husband, King Charles III – based on a recommendation from the First Sea Lord, currently Sir Gwyn Jenkins.

Just hours before she was scheduled to attend, Princess Catherine cancelled her appearance at Royal Ascot, according to Kensington Palace.

The palace said Kate was sad to miss the event, but she’s still working out how to manage her public appearances as she recovers from cancer.

Prince Harry’s legal battle for extra security ended on May 2nd when a court dismissed his case. This followed a decision over a year prior, where the High Court, through the Royal and VIP Executive Committee, had already denied his request for increased protection.

After Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stopped being full-time working royals in 2021 and moved to the US, their security arrangements were reduced. However, Harry continued to request security protection during his trips back to the United Kingdom in the following years.

In a booklet offering support to cancer patients and their families, Charles explained that receiving a diagnosis is understandably scary. However, drawing from his own experience, he also shared that it can reveal incredible kindness and strength in people.

I was so moved when he took the time to thank all the healthcare workers who helped him. It really resonated with me when he said it’s given him an even greater understanding of the incredible work done by the organizations and people in the room – groups and individuals he’s known, visited, and supported for years. It felt so genuine and heartfelt.

Prince William, Kate Middleton, and their three children – Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis – were absent from the royal family’s traditional Easter service at St George’s Chapel in Windsor on April 20th.

Graham Craker, a former bodyguard to Prince Harry and Prince William, passed away in April at the age of 77.

Craker was with Princes William and Harry when they found out their mother, Princess Diana, had passed away, and he was also present at her funeral.

In 2017, Craker told The New York Post that he saw Prince William during the procession. He was standing near the back of the hearse and William looked up and nodded at him. Craker said William seemed reassured to know he was with his mother during her final journey.

It was announced on March 12th and I seriously can’t handle the cuteness that’s about to come! I’ve been following their story for ages and I’m so thrilled for them both!

A spokesperson announced to The Telegraph that the duchess is pregnant and expecting a baby this summer. The couple expressed their joy and excitement about starting a family.

Prince Frederik, the son of Prince Robert and Princess Julie, passed away on March 1st at the age of 22 after a long illness with a rare genetic condition called PolG mitochondrial disease.

He had sued them in 2019, claiming that journalists and investigators working for the newspapers illegally obtained information about the royal family.

According to NBC News, the settlement involved a significant financial payment and a complete, unambiguous apology to Prince Harry. The company also publicly recognized the widespread and deeply invasive media coverage of both his and Princess Diana’s private lives.

On January 14th, The Princess of Wales shared the wonderful news that her cancer treatment has been successful and she is now in remission.

She announced on X (formerly Twitter) on January 14th that her cancer is in remission and she’s concentrating on getting better. She added that, like anyone facing a cancer diagnosis, she’s still adjusting to life after it.

She added that she’s excited about the year ahead and feels there’s a lot to be positive about.

Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, is grieving the loss of her rescue beagle, whom she adopted in 2015, before she met Prince Harry.

On January 7th, she shared a heartfelt message on Instagram about crying so much she’d lost count. She described how she’d often stand in the shower, hoping the water would wash away her sadness, even though she knew it wouldn’t. She ended by saying it was okay to feel those emotions.

Meghan lovingly remembered her dog, Guy, saying, “Thank you for always loving me, my sweet boy. You brought so much joy to my life.”

 

Edward Pettifer, the stepson of Prince William and Prince Harry’s former nanny, Tiggy Legge-Bourke (also known as Alexandra Pettifer), was killed in a terrorist attack in New Orleans on New Year’s Day.

Prince William and Catherine were deeply saddened to learn of the death of Ed Pettifer. In a statement shared on Kate Middleton’s Instagram on January 4th, William said their thoughts are with the Pettifer family and everyone affected by this terrible tragedy.

Meghan Markle, known for her role in the TV show Suits, started her own Instagram account on January 1st. She had previously closed her personal social media accounts before marrying Prince Harry in 2018.

The next day, she revealed a new Netflix series called With Love, Meghan. A press release described it as a fresh take on lifestyle shows, combining helpful tips and honest chats with both familiar and new friends.
