The highly-anticipated comeback of “King of the Hill” is now streaming on Hulu, and there’s plenty to discuss regarding the reemergence of Arlen, Texas. Over the course of ten episodes in the fourteenth season of this beloved animated show, Hank and Peggy Hill struggle to find their footing in a world they left behind when they ventured to Saudi Arabia. In an unexpected turn of events, the ninth episode of the revival titled “No Hank Left Behind” has reintroduced some familiar classic characters, suggesting that changes may be greater than fans thought since the original series ended.
Heed this note: If you haven’t watched the revival of King of the Hill, let me caution you that we’ll delve into spoiler details. In the episode titled “No Hank Left Behind”, Hank is found in “Arlen Family Law” due to a class action lawsuit won by Cotton. As part of the settlement, Hank virtually meets his half-brother Junichiro, and his younger half-brother, affectionately known as “Good Hank”. The lawsuit settlement awards each of Cotton’s sons $5000, as Hank’s father used a lotion that was not accurately advertised. This lotion, named “Shin Jelly”, claimed to regrow shins but turned out to be merely lotion and hot sauce. Despite the fact that Cotton did not grow new shins, his sons received their compensation following his passing.
The Return of “Good Hank”
In the fourth season of “King of the Hill,” a new character named “Good Hank” was humorously introduced, born as Cotton and Didi’s son. Across the first thirteen seasons, he sporadically appears in his baby form. However, in the revival’s ninth episode, he is now a pre-teen seeking a male role model. He finds himself intrigued by the “manosphere.” With Hank back in Arlen, both Didi and Peggy urge him to be a positive influence on his younger half-brother. They allow Hank to stay with them for part of the summer, and he is persuaded to attend a weekend course from a channel called “Man Made.” Initially, he finds it appealing, thinking it’s good for character development.
Over time, Hank uncovers the truth about Man Made – it’s not as great as people say. He finds out that the training program is filled with misogyny and is supported by the organizer’s mother. As everyone involved realizes their mistake and leaves the course, Hank hands G.H. back to Didi, saying he’s improving but still needs work. Using part of his settlement money, Hank buys an old car for G.H., creating a project they can work on together. The prospects for these half-brothers seem promising, and if there’s a 15th season, it wouldn’t be unexpected to see G.H. reappear in upcoming episodes.
