The iconic series, King of the Hill, is set to make a comeback after a fifteen-year hiatus, with rumors swirling about the return of a beloved character who fans believed had met his end. In this new phase, the characters will be approximately ten years older than they were in the original series, which means significant life changes for all, even those whose lifestyles were previously considered reckless.
In the recently launched “King of the Hill” sequel, Hank and Peggy have been working in Saudi Arabia for several years on a propane project. This has sparked speculation about Hank’s tenure at Strickland Propane. Given Hank’s commitment to his career, it seemed implausible that he would leave his job under ordinary circumstances. Many fans presumed this meant Buck didn’t make it to the current events depicted in the revival. However, a hint dropped by Hulu suggests that Buck might reappear in the upcoming episodes.
Is Buck Strickland Dead in King of the Hill?
In a catch-up video posted by Hulu before the new season of King of the Hill, key characters from the original show are featured and mentioned. Even at the end, there’s a nod to the extended cast, specifically Buck Strickland. Already confirmed for the revival series are Chane and Ted Wassanasong, with older designs unveiled in past promotional content. Interestingly, Buck has been missing from all previous announcements.
Buck’s omission from promotional materials so far hasn’t been unexpected given his minor role in the original series, but it has sparked curiosity about his part in the upcoming episodes. Although we haven’t seen his adult counterpart yet, this recap hints that he will make an appearance. On the other hand, it’s also possible that Hank may be dealing with the loss of his boss upon returning to Arlen, Texas. The details are still unclear.
What Is Buck Strickland’s Role in King of the Hill?
If Buck appears in the reboot of King of the Hill, his part may not be significant as Hank has retired and the storyline likely won’t focus on Strickland Propane anymore. Since Hank doesn’t have a job now, we probably won’t see Buck for long. However, Buck might provide an explanation for why Hank travels to Saudi Arabia, which is linked to a new character that spends time with Dale, Boomhauer, and the rest of the gang.
If Buck Strickland was the one who first proposed Saudi Arabia to Hank, it’d be more logical for him to venture into a completely new country in that scenario. It’s hinted that this move could open up a lucrative propane opportunity for Hank and Peggy, providing them with enough funds to retire comfortably. Over the years, it seems there may have been some sort of work exchange program involved, with Hank going to Saudi Arabia while someone briefly lives in their house as suggested by the new opening sequence. Given that only Buck could arrange this, we’ll have to wait and see if he’s still alive when King of the Hill Season 14 premieres on Hulu on August 4th.
