The show “King of the Hill” returned for its fourteenth season, demonstrating that even with change, things often remain consistent. Hank and Peggy, who found prosperity in Saudi Arabia due to Hank’s new job, were lured back to Arlen, Texas during their retirement by the irresistible charm of home. Although the Hill family appears to have promising futures, one character continues to struggle with a cycle of misfortune – Bill Dauterive. Despite being cherished by fans, this supporting character has yet to find much luck in his life.
If you haven’t watched King of the Hill’s fourteenth season yet, be aware that we’re going to delve into spoiler territory. At the start, Bill appears to be in a troubled state, hardly leaving his house and growing an unusually long beard. Hank is surprised to see Dauterive struggling to get back on his feet. Thankfully, the first episode provides a humorous solution by bringing Bill back into action, albeit with everyone else getting older. Despite this, he manages to shave off his beard and features in several episodes where Dauterive plays a prominent role.
Bill Might Never Find Love
Over the course of thirteen seasons on “King of the Hill,” Bill was frequently depicted as a man grappling with relationship woes and an overall sense of isolation. In the fourteenth season, this pattern persisted, with Bill remaining unattached despite the return of the Hills and a potential improvement in Arlen’s local reputation for Bill. However, it’s worth noting that Dauterive does manage to make new friends in Hank and Peggy’s absence, albeit with some significant qualifications attached.
In the sixth episode of the revival titled “Peggy’s Fadeout,” Bill attempts to gain respect from a barbershop by spreading falsehoods about himself. Regrettably, one of these lies involves claiming marriage to Peggy, a fact that Hank uncovers during a visit to the barbershop. Rather than admitting the truth to his new acquaintances, Dauterive instead informs them that Peggy has passed away. This results in his friends organizing a funeral for Peggy, who is deceitfully portrayed as Bill’s wife. Despite maintaining this group of friends, Bill remains unsuccessful in finding a partner.
Currently, there’s no official announcement about a 15th season of “King of the Hill”, but given the positive response to its revival, it’s possible that Hulu might revisit Arlen. We’re eagerly waiting for the series to continue, hoping that Bill finally gets his long-awaited happy ending after enduring so much hardship over the years.
