The classic animated series “King of the Hill” is back on our screens for a fresh new season, breaking a significant record for the show after 28 years since its initial release. Originally premiering on Fox in 1997, “King of the Hill” ran for 13 seasons before coming to an end. After a 15-year hiatus, the beloved series has made a comeback with a brand new season that’s been garnering positive feedback from both fans and critics alike. With its debut on Hulu, “King of the Hill” Season 14 is setting records as the most successful in the franchise’s history.
The fourteenth season of “King of the Hill,” which recently premiered, is not only the first new season since its original debut in 1997 to earn the prestigious “Certified Fresh” status on Rotten Tomatoes, but it also has the highest rating among all seasons. Upon its release, it received an exceptional score of 100% from critics, and currently maintains a Certified Fresh score of 98%, based on 40 reviews including our own at ComicBook (you can read it here). This surpasses the series’ previous best “Certified Fresh” rating of 87% from its very first season.
King of the Hill Season 14 Makes High Marks
The fourteenth season of “King of the Hill” has been acclaimed as one of the best seasons so far, earning praise for being a successful revival among many recent comebacks of popular franchises, particularly those owned by 20th Century Fox. Notably, the show’s return is reminiscent of the successful revival of “Futurama” on Hulu. The new season features many of the original creative team and voice actors, continuing the classic series with fresh episodes.
Instead of starting fresh like they did with “Futurama,” the revival of “King of the Hill” feels more like an extension of the original show. Set about a decade after the events of the first series, the characters in “King of the Hill” have grown older and are now at different stages in life. This change has opened up new plotlines for the characters, making the revival a delightful watch for fans who loved the original series.
Is King of the Hill Going to Get a Season 15?
Currently, it remains undecided whether or not “King of the Hill” will air Season 15 of the animated series. Although insiders hint at work on two seasons of the revival, Hulu has yet to officially confirm any additional episodes. With the positive response to the recent episodes, there’s a strong possibility that we’ll continue the story from where it left off, as the serialized narrative for this new phase becomes more defined.
As a die-hard fan, I can’t contain my excitement! The legendary duo, Mike Judge and Greg Daniels, are back to bring us more of the hilarious world of “King of the Hill” in its revival. This time around, Saladin K. Patterson takes the reins as showrunner. Hulu has given us a tantalizing peek at what’s to come for the new season:
After spending years toiling away in Saudi Arabia to secure our retirement fund, Hank and Peggy Hill are back in their beloved Arlen, Texas. But oh, how things have changed! We’ll get to reconnect with old pals like Dale, Boomhauer, and Bill. Meanwhile, Bobby is living his dream as a chef in the bustling city of Dallas and enjoying his twenties alongside his former classmates Connie, Joseph, and Chane. Can’t wait to dive back into this quirky world!
