Publisher tinyBuild and developer Redemption Road Games have pushed back the Early Access launch of Kingmakers, their medieval third-person shooter and strategy game. Originally scheduled for October 8, the game will now release on an unspecified date. Kingmakers will be available on PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store.
Here is the full message from Redemption Road Games on the delay:
After careful consideration, we’ve decided that the launch of Kingmakers on October 8th will need to be postponed. We sincerely apologize to all our fans who were looking forward to playing the game. We’re truly sorry for the disappointment this causes.
Why is Kingmakers taking longer than expected? Simply put, it’s a very ambitious and detailed game, and we’re committed to including all the features we originally planned, rather than releasing it prematurely. From the beginning, our aim has been to develop a game that stands out from everything else available, offering unique gameplay, a large scale, broad scope, and a high level of interactivity.
With Kingmakers, our goal was to really test the boundaries of what the Unreal Engine 4 could do, all while maintaining a smooth 60 frames per second on typical computers – and without resorting to tricks to artificially increase the frame rate. We’re a team that’s 80% engineers, and we got into game development because we love tackling tough technical challenges.
As a huge fan, I’m blown away by the scale of this! They’ve got tens of thousands of soldiers, and the AI and movement are seriously impressive – like something you’d see in a top-tier, AAA third-person shooter. What’s really cool is that battles don’t just stop when you look away; they continue happening on their own. And it’s all real – nothing is pre-scripted or faked. The environments are incredible too! We’re talking massive, 6-story castles where you can explore every single room and actually destroy walls, floors, and ceilings. Even things like building a Lumbermill aren’t just for show; it’s a fully explorable location that can become a battleground if enemies attack!
If you crash a car into a tree, you’ll be thrown through the windshield, the tree will uproot itself, and then roll over any unfortunate soldiers in its way. Each mission unfolds on a huge map that every player on the server can freely explore, either alone or with a large army of thousands.
We initially aimed to create this with seamless integration and the ability for players to join and leave games easily, as well as full multiplayer support – and we’ve achieved that. We just need a little more time to refine the content and ensure it’s polished to a high standard before we start selling it.
That’s what we’re focused on right now. We’re working hard to ensure every player who purchases the game is completely captivated and feels it was a worthwhile investment. We aim for this experience regardless of whether you have a powerful gaming setup or an older PC that’s starting to show its age. We want everyone to feel their money was well spent, no matter their hardware. You can find more information on our website.
We are incredibly grateful for all of your love and support. We truly hope we’re meeting your expectations and deserving of it.
We’re planning to share a detailed, thirty-minute look at Kingmakers gameplay in the near future. This will be a complete overview of all the progress we’ve made.
