The game titled “Kirby Air Riders” has been confirmed to be released in November 2025 within Nintendo’s schedule. For those eagerly awaiting the Nintendo Switch 2, it’s important to note that Kirby Air Riders retails for $69.99. This is $10 cheaper than Mario Kart World, but priced similarly to the critically acclaimed Donkey Kong Bananza.
During the most recent Nintendo Direct presentation, director Masahiro Sakurai unveiled numerous new Riders and gameplay enhancements. The one-button control scheme is making a comeback, removing the need for an acceleration button. Instead, players can steer left or right by moving the stick accordingly, while pressing the B button lets them accumulate Boost Charge for drifting around corners. By tilting the stick up on ramps, players can soar higher, and downward tilt results in slower deceleration. A flawless landing rewards a speed increase.
In addition, another button has joined the fray. By pressing ‘Y’ when the Special Gauge is fully charged, players can employ unique special attacks for each Rider. For instance, Kirby’s Ultra Sword is ideal for defeating numerous opponents, while Dedede’s Jet Hammer significantly increases speed. The special moves Kirby employs depend on his chosen color, and there are four distinct ones to choose from.
Different Air Ride Machines exhibit unique characteristics. For instance, the Winged Star excels at flying, while the Paper Star boasts increased acceleration and lower durability. Compared to the previous game, the variety is significantly greater. Noteworthy features include an automatic attack function that activates when you’re near opponents, providing a speed boost. Additionally, keep an eye on your rivals’ star paths as collecting those can also increase your speed.
Not only are there more abilities available than just Kirby’s copying, but now characters can also acquire skills from their enemies. Additionally, instead of using projectiles after copying, you can now fire them independently. Four new Air Ride mode maps – Floria Fields, Cavernous Corners, Cyberion Highway, and Mount Amberfalls – have been unveiled. Players can start a race right away without having to wait for others to finish first.
The game titled Kirby Air Rider is set to be released on November 20th, exclusively on the Nintendo Switch 2. Keep an eye out for further details leading up to its release.
