The much-anticipated sequel to the popular GameCube racing game, Kirby Air Rider, was unveiled with fresh details during a recent Nintendo Direct presentation led by director Masahiro Sakurai. The event also confirmed that the game will launch on November 20th exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2 console, while hinting at the potential return of Dark Matter in some capacity towards the end of the announcement.
Just like the original game, Kirby Air Rider features a racing competition among up to six participants. However, unlike its predecessor, this edition offers a wider variety of characters to select, each boasting unique characteristics. For instance, Kirby is evenly matched, while King Dedede is a heavyweight who wields his hammer for attacks. Chef Kawasaki has the ability to gather extra food items, and Banana Waddle Dee accumulates Boost Charge more swiftly in this new version.
Some verified characters joining the game are Cappy, Magolor, Gooey, Waddle Doo, Knuckle Joe, and Susie. You’re welcome to pair any Machine with any Rider, although keep in mind that weight can influence performance. For example, Kirby might achieve better speed and acceleration on one Machine, whereas Dedede could benefit from increased durability and attack strength. Look out for further information about Kirby Air Riders, covering its gameplay mechanics, soon.
