Kirsten Dunst is ready to put in a little elbow grease.
Kirsten Dunst, known for her role in Bring It On, will star with Sydney Sweeney in the follow-up to The Housemaid. The new movie is based on Freida McFadden’s novel, The Housemaid’s Secret, Lionsgate announced.
I’ve been a huge fan for years, and honestly, when I heard the studio president, Erin Westerman, call her an icon, I completely agreed! Her work is just so diverse and brave. And the thought of her acting alongside Sydney Sweeney? It’s going to be amazing – Westerman said she’ll be an ‘electrifying force,’ and I can already tell this project is going to be full of twists and turns where you can’t trust anyone.
Details about Kirsten’s character are still secret, but she’s expected to play Mrs. Garrick, the new boss of Millie, Sydney’s character.
Sydney isn’t the only familiar face returning for the sequel! Director Paul Feig, writer Rebecca Sonnenshine, and Michele Morrone—who played Enzo in the first movie—are all confirmed to be part of The Housemaid’s Secret.
After hearing the news, the actress from Euphoria immediately shared her excitement about Kirsten being cast, posting about it on her Instagram Story on March 23rd.
Frieda, the film’s author, had a straightforward wish for the sequel: she wanted Amanda Seyfried, who previously starred with Brendan Sklenar in the original movie, to make an appearance.
In a recent interview with TopMob News, Freida expressed hope that Amanda Seyfried might make a brief appearance in the movie, if her schedule allows. She said Seyfried was a standout in the original and it would be fantastic to have her involved in any capacity.

She confessed she hadn’t anticipated much success when she first published the novel. She’d thought being with a publisher might help it perform slightly better than her previous books. But the actual outcome far exceeded anything she could have imagined.
Although it’ll be some time before Kirsten Dunst and Sydney Sweeney appear in a movie together, many books are currently being adapted for film and television. Here’s a look at some of them.
The novelist also had similarly gushing words for Sydney’s portrayal of her protagonist, Millie.
She shared that she was moved to tears when she met Sydney Sweeney. Seeing Millie, the character she’d developed over a long period, was incredibly emotional. Millie was also incredibly kind and sweet, giving her a hug and seeming like a genuinely lovely person.
Even though two of her books have been made into movies, the author, age 45, is still amazed by how popular The Housemaid has become.
