Gene Simmons is on the mend.
Paul Stanley, a founding member of the band KISS, is recovering in the hospital after a car accident in Malibu, California, on October 7th, according to the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department.
Authorities reported that 76-year-old Simmons lost consciousness and crashed his Lincoln Navigator into a parked car near the Pacific Coast Highway around 1 p.m. local time. He told officials he had either passed out or fainted before the collision.
Gene Simmons’ wife, Shannon Tweed, shared that he was briefly in the hospital, but is now recovering at home. She mentioned he recently had a change in his medications.
TopMob News has contacted both the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department’s Lost Hills Station and representatives for Simmons, but hasn’t received a response yet.
Gene Simmons isn’t the only former member of KISS dealing with health problems. Ace Frehley also had to cancel his concerts scheduled for October and November of this year because of medical issues, as he announced on Instagram on October 6th.
As a lifelong fan, I’m absolutely thrilled to share that KISS – with Gene, Ace, Paul Stanley, and Tommy Thayer – is getting back together next month! They’re celebrating 50 incredible years with a special event called KISS Kruise: Land-Locked In Vegas, and I can’t wait to be a part of it.
Paul shared on the *Artist Friendly with Joel Madden* podcast that their Las Vegas performances are a way to connect with fans now that they aren’t touring. He emphasized that even though the band has changed, they haven’t forgotten the people who supported them and helped them become successful. He stated their fans are the reason for everything they’ve achieved and continue to be important to their journey.
As a lifestyle planner, I was hearing rumblings about a potential follow-up to the incredibly popular KISS cruise we did back in 2022. The band really wanted to make it happen again, but unfortunately, securing a suitable cruise ship proved to be a major hurdle – they just couldn’t find one available that met their needs.
Paul jokingly described their upcoming event as ‘a KISS cruise without a ship.’ They’ll be hosting it at the Virgin Hotel, with performances by KISS and other bands, plus Q&A sessions and contests. He promised it will have all the fun and excitement people anticipated from the original cruise.
Gene and I were initially concerned that the direction of this project was drifting away from the core values that made KISS Kruises so special, and that we weren’t involved enough. So, we stepped in to make sure it still captured the same feelings and experiences fans love. Even though we couldn’t hold a cruise this year due to ship availability, we’re determined to recreate that same atmosphere and connection.
With Gene and Ace both getting better, here are some other celebrities who have opened up about their health journeys.
Nikki Bella, known from *Total Bellas*, shared that one of her breast implants moved after being hit in the chest during a wrestling match with Piper Niven in July 2025.
She reassured her sister, Bella Garcia, saying they would get the issue resolved eventually. She explained to the doctor that as soon as she finished her current commitments – implying after her divorce was finalized – she would return to address the problem and make everything look good. She wanted to ensure things were presentable, as she anticipated future activity and didn’t want them to appear neglected.
Lupita Nyong’o, known for her role in *12 Years a Slave*, received a diagnosis of uterine fibroids—non-cancerous growths in or around the uterus—in 2014, the same year she won an Academy Award for her acting.
She didn’t reveal her diagnosis until 2025, sharing on Instagram that she had been privately struggling with it for over ten years.
Ugh, it’s just… growing up, everyone acted like periods *had* to be awful! Like, pain was just… part of the package of being a woman, and you just dealt with it. It’s so frustrating because it feels like so many of us are secretly suffering, thinking we’re the only ones, when really, it’s something that affects almost all of us! We’re all just trying to cope on our own, and it shouldn’t be like that.
In July 2025, the actress from *Daisy Jones & The Six* revealed she’d been hospitalized for a hernia, which developed because she frequently wore tight pants. A hernia happens when there’s a gap in the abdominal or groin muscles.
Someone messaged Suki on X (formerly Twitter) saying, “You haven’t tweeted in a while!” Suki replied, jokingly, “Have you thought maybe I wore such tight pants six months ago that I got a hernia and I’ve been afraid to mention it?”
The former star of *Beverly Hills, 90210* shared in April 2025 that he was recovering from surgery to fix a nearly ruptured appendix.
I was really worried to hear that Brian was dealing with some stomach pain last week. He shared in a video that he actually had to go to the emergency room, and it turned out his appendix had a hole in it – thankfully, it hadn’t fully burst, but it was dangerously close!
He added, “I’m on the road to recovery. It’s not an easy process. This is my first major surgery.”
During a soccer game against the Seattle Reign on September 14th at Lumen Field in Seattle, a midfielder from Racing Louisville collapsed after only a few minutes of play.
According to Reuters, the U.S. Women’s National Team player was seen slowly sitting down on the field with a teammate for support when the referee signaled for medical staff to evaluate her. She then collapsed shortly after.
After receiving immediate medical attention on the field, Savannah was taken to a nearby hospital for more tests, according to a statement from the National Women’s Soccer League. They reported that she is currently in stable condition and is alert.
Adam Devine revealed that injuries from being hit by a cement truck at age 11 still cause him problems today.
In a 2025 interview on the *In Depth With Graham Bensinger* podcast, Devine described the last year as a “nightmare.” He explained he’s been experiencing spasms throughout his body and that doctors once told him he was facing a life-threatening condition.
He explained that his pain is intermittent, and described having some physical imperfections, saying, “My body just has a few things that aren’t quite right.”
A former contestant on The Bachelor went to the hospital in extreme pain, literally crawling because his back hurt so badly. The pain flared up during a road trip he was taking with a friend in an RV.
He described a lingering tingling sensation in his knees and toes during a March 2025 episode of his podcast, *Trading Secrets*. He explained that just a few weeks or a month prior, he was able to squat 295 pounds, but now he can’t even do a squat or stand on one foot without falling. He compared the feeling to having had a stroke.
But with the help of a back specialist and some steroids, he added, “We’re on the mend.”
Oh my gosh, you will NOT believe this! I was absolutely devastated to hear that Gina Kirschenheiter’s ex-husband, Matt, had a heart attack back in March of 2025. I mean, even though they’re divorced, I’m such a fan of Gina, and it just broke my heart! Thankfully, he pulled through, and I was SO relieved to hear he’s okay. It was such a scary time!
In March 2025, the actor from 30 Rock experienced a medical issue at a New York Knicks game and had to be taken out of Madison Square Garden in a wheelchair.
The comedian later posted an update online, explaining he had food poisoning but was starting to feel better.
In February 2025, the former *Even Stevens* star revealed she was shot in the face during a birthday celebration for her husband, Brendan Rooney. They were on a trip to go clay pigeon shooting when the incident occurred.
According to her Instagram post, she was shot in the face when another group fired a weapon unsafely. She said Brendan Rooney quickly helped her, evaluated her injuries, and took her to the hospital. She was hit five times, and one bullet narrowly missed her right eye by less than an inch.
The *Kim Possible* actress explained that a small piece of something got stuck behind her eye, and doctors believe it’s too dangerous to remove with surgery right now. She’s being closely monitored by doctors, but currently her vision is normal.
The actress expressed immense gratitude for surviving a frightening experience. She shared how much she cherishes her daughters, husband, family, and friends, explaining that she realized how precious life is. She urged everyone to hug their loved ones often, because things can change so quickly.
Amy Schumer is grateful for the internet, even though it can be harsh, because it helped her discover a health issue. After noticing she looked “puffier,” Schumer was surprised to see doctors commenting on her appearance online, suggesting she might have Cushing syndrome. They pointed out changes in her face and believed further investigation was needed. This prompted Schumer to realize she had been receiving steroid injections after a breast reduction and C-section, which led to the condition. She wouldn’t have known about it without the online comments. Thankfully, doctors determined her case of Cushing syndrome would resolve on its own, and she’s now relieved to be healthy.
During a game in December 2024, an AHL player was accidentally cut in the face by another player’s skate and needed 25 stitches to close the wound. After his son made a full recovery, New Jersey Devils General Manager Tom Fitzgerald shared with ESPN how relieved they were, saying, “We feel very fortunate, and I wouldn’t want any parent to go through that.”
In March 2022, Hailey Bieber experienced a frightening health scare while having breakfast with her husband, Justin Bieber. She suddenly started having stroke-like symptoms, unable to speak and experiencing drooping on the right side of her face. Although these symptoms eventually subsided, she went to the hospital for evaluation. Doctors discovered she had a small blood clot in her brain, which they identified as a TIA (Transient Ischemic Attack). Further testing at UCLA revealed Hailey had a hole in her heart, known as a patent foramen ovale (PFO). This hole allowed the blood clot to travel to her brain, causing the TIA. Hailey successfully underwent a procedure to close the PFO and is now doing well.
The same year Hailey faced a health issue, Justin also went through a difficult time. In June 2022, he revealed he had been diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome, which caused temporary paralysis on one side of his face. This forced him to cancel the remaining dates of his Justice World Tour.
In a video posted to Instagram, Justin explained the condition affected the nerves in his ear and face, preventing him from blinking, smiling, or moving his nostril on the affected side. He also shared that it had become increasingly difficult for him to eat.
Fortunately, the paralysis eventually went away. Hailey shared on *Good Morning America* that Justin was recovering well, adding that while it was a frightening and unexpected situation, he was going to be okay and she was thankful he was fine.
Jamie Foxx recently shared details about the health scare he experienced in April 2023, which he had previously kept private. In his 2024 Netflix special, *What Had Happened Was…*, he explained that he suffered from a severe headache one day in Atlanta. Before he could even take an aspirin, he lost consciousness and doesn’t remember the next 20 days.
Initially, a doctor gave him a cortisone shot and sent him home, but his sister, Deidra Dixon, was worried and took him to the hospital. There, they discovered he had a brain bleed that caused a stroke.
After surgery, Jamie woke up in a wheelchair on May 4th, unable to walk. He then went to Chicago for rehabilitation and therapy. He expressed his gratitude for all the prayers he received, saying he needed every single one.
The reality TV star shared that she briefly stopped breathing while running a mile during the first challenge on the NBC show.
She shared on the show *Fit for TV: The Reality of The Biggest Loser* that her memory of the event was fragmented. She recalled hearing a helicopter, feeling like she was floating, and then seeing her grandfather. After that, she remembered only darkness, followed by light. She stated this sequence of events led her to realize she had died that day.
She explained that her organs were failing. She hadn’t known she had rhabdomyolysis, a condition where the body essentially begins to shut down.
Emilia Clarke, known for her role in *Game of Thrones*, revealed a harrowing health battle in a 2019 essay for *The New Yorker*. While filming the series, she experienced a sudden, severe headache while at the gym. She described collapsing and being violently ill, realizing something was seriously wrong with her brain.
A hospital scan quickly revealed a subarachnoid hemorrhage – a life-threatening stroke caused by bleeding around the brain. She had suffered an aneurysm, a rupture in an artery. Immediate surgery was performed to repair it, but the pain was excruciating. During her recovery, she experienced aphasia, struggling to speak coherently.
Though the aphasia eventually passed, and she was discharged after a month, a 2013 scan revealed the aneurysm had grown and required a second surgery. This procedure failed, causing a major bleed, and doctors warned her that another operation – this time requiring them to access her brain directly through her skull – was her only chance of survival.
Fortunately, Emilia reports that she has now made a full recovery and is at 100%.
Cori Broadus, Snoop Dogg’s daughter, recently shared her gratitude for her family’s support after she experienced a stroke in January 2024. She told TopMob News that she immediately contacted her family and sent them a picture, and they quickly came to her aid. Cori ended up staying in the hospital longer than expected due to complications with lupus and kidney problems. Thankfully, Cori is now recovering well. While she had to work on regaining some motor skills, she says she’s doing great and is on the mend.
Shailene Woodley struggled with significant health issues throughout her early twenties. In a September 2024 podcast interview, she explained that she experienced hearing loss, extreme fatigue – unable to walk for more than five minutes without needing to rest for hours – and persistent stomach pain. She faced confusion due to conflicting diagnoses from different doctors. Determined to find answers, Woodley, who prefers to keep the specifics private, combined traditional medical care with holistic and herbal remedies. This search for well-being lasted a decade. The physical discomfort led to anxiety around food and, eventually, to struggles with body image and identity. Thankfully, after years of focusing on both her physical and mental health, Shailene is now feeling much better and considers herself very healthy.
