Kit Harington’s MCU Future as Black Knight Gets Exciting Update

Kit Harington’s future in the MCU as Dane Whitman/Black Knight has received an exciting update.

Richard Harington played Dane Whitman in the 2021 film Eternals, directed by Chloé Zhao. In the Marvel comics, Dane Whitman – created by Roy Thomas and John Buscema and first appearing in The Avengers #47 in 1967 – is the third hero to take on the identity of Black Knight. The end of Eternals showed Dane acquiring the Ebony Blade, hinting he would become the Black Knight, but he hasn’t been seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since.

What is the update on Kit Harington’s MCU future?

Alex Perez from The Cosmic Circus reports that despite not appearing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe recently, Marvel still intends to use the character of Dane in future projects.

When questioned about Kit Harington potentially joining Marvel’s Blade or Midnight Sons, Perez confirmed he will be involved in both projects, stating Marvel still intends to include him in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Right now, this is just speculation, as Marvel hasn’t officially confirmed Kit Harington’s involvement in any future Marvel movies or shows.

A new Blade movie is in the works, but it’s uncertain when it will actually be released. Announced in 2019 with Mahershala Ali set to star as Blade, the project has faced several setbacks. Currently without a director or confirmed release date, it’s unclear if the film will ever move forward.

Marvel hasn’t confirmed a ‘Midnight Sons’ project yet, but rumors have been circulating for a while. These rumors gained traction when Sacha Baron Cohen appeared as Mephisto in the 2025 ‘Ironheart’ series, leading to speculation that they might adapt the 2018 ‘Damnation’ miniseries.
