In just hours, a new trailer emerged for the upcoming movie “Kraven,” and Sony Pictures picked up a screenplay from director J.C. Chandor. This film, which Chandor is hoping will be his next directing venture, focuses on an investigation into a murder within a wealthy family. The movie appears to be a return to the type of movies similar to “Margin Call” and “A Most Violent Year,” which helped establish Chandor’s reputation and eventually led to the opportunity for a Spider-Man spinoff project.
According to Deadline, who initially broke the news, the initial script has been completed and they’re currently considering actors for roles. This implies that production on the upcoming film titled Kraven could start imminently, as it is scheduled for a December 13th release date.
In simple terms, Chandor expressed his immense pride in the collaborative effort on the project named Kraven and anticipates that many will be astonished when the film is eventually released. As for his future plans, he said it remains to be decided by the cinematic powers that be.
It appears their interactions during the lengthy post-production process for “Kraven” suggest a good working relationship between Sony and Chandor, although it’s not definitive confirmation. This amicable dynamic may have been strained somewhat by the setback experienced with “Madame Web.”
The movie title “Kraven the Hunter” tells a gritty tale of how and why one of Marvel’s most well-known adversaries evolved. Before his infamous feud with Spider-Man, the lead role is played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson in this R-rated film, which focuses on the character named Kraven.
Joining Aaron Taylor-Johnson in the cast of “Kraven the Hunter” are several notable actors: Ariana DeBose, an Oscar winner from “West Side Story”, takes on the role of Kraven’s longtime love interest, the voodoo priestess Calypso; Fred Hechinger is also part of the ensemble. Christopher Abbott, known for “A Most Violent Year”, plays the assassin called The Foreigner, while Alessandro Nivola, from “The Many Saints of Newark”, portrays The Rhino. Lastly, Russell Crowe, famous for his role in “Gladiator”, steps into the shoes of Nikolai Kravinoff.
