With her first time directing a feature film, a biopic about Lidia Yuknavitch called The Chronology of Water, Kristen Stewart spoke about how her wife – whom she married in Los Angeles in April – has inspired her approach to work.

In an exclusive interview with Will Marfuggi of TopMob News, she described herself as a dedicated writer. However, she confessed that writing is actually a difficult process for her, saying, ‘I only write because I feel I must. I don’t enjoy it—I’d rather be shooting.’

Because of this, the 35-year-old actress now relies on Dylan—a producer for the movie—to help her do her best work.

Kristen described having a strong and unique connection with the other person. She jokingly admitted they felt incredibly powerful together, explaining that their contrasting personalities – one being thoughtful and big-picture oriented, the other detail-focused – somehow created a perfect balance and made them effective as a pair.

Kristen and Dylan’s new movie is currently playing in select theaters, with a wider release planned for January 9th. They’re also working together on another film, The Wrong Girls, which promises to showcase their creative partnership even further.

In June 2023, Kristen told Interview magazine that she and Dylan are collaborating on a movie. She described it as a silly, lighthearted comedy about a stoner girl, jokingly calling it ‘really stupid’.

Besides the enjoyable story audiences will see, the Academy Award-nominated actress shared that she worked with a close-knit team, including her best friend as a producer. She realized she actually prefers collaborating with people she’s close to.

She explained that she’d spent a long time working with people she didn’t know or care for. While the experience taught her valuable lessons, she ultimately wished she hadn’t gone through it.

Kristen Stewart and Dylan Meyer first sparked dating rumors in August 2019, but Stewart later told Howard Stern they actually met six years prior, on a movie set. They didn’t reconnect until a friend’s birthday party, where Stewart said she was immediately struck and wondered why they hadn’t met sooner.

Stewart told Stern that the first time she confessed her love, it was late at night in a rundown bar. She said her partner’s friends happened to leave, and in that moment, she blurted out, ‘I’m so in love with you.’ She described it as a definitive statement – it was simply said and done.

In April 2021, Meyer shared a loving message on Instagram to celebrate her partner’s 31st birthday. Along with a photo of them and their dog, she wrote, “Life is so much better with this adorable family! Happy birthday, you’re amazing!”

Stewart confirmed to Howard Stern in November 2021 that they are getting married. He explained that he actually did the proposing himself, wanting to be the one asked, and that his partner perfectly executed the proposal just as he’d hoped. He said it was a sweet and successful moment, and the wedding is definitely happening.

Stewart described their upcoming wedding as very relaxed. They don’t plan on having a traditional ceremony with anyone being escorted down the aisle. Instead, they’ll simply exchange vows and then have a party. They see it as a wonderful opportunity to gather with friends and publicly express their love for each other.
