Kylo Ren’s Dark Secrets Revealed: The Shocking Truth Behind His Legacy!

In the initial scenes of “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker,” the reanimated Emperor Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid) instructs Supreme Leader Kylo Ren, formerly Ben Solo and grandson of Anakin Skywalker, to abandon his Jedi ways. Later, before engaging Palpatine in a temple on Exegol, Kylo Ren slaughters an army of Alazmec warriors within the burnt forest of Corvax Fen, a devastated area on the fiery planet Mustafar, where Darth Vader, his grandfather, came close to being consumed by flames during the events of “Revenge of the Sith.

Following the defeat of the Mustafarian fighters, Kylo Ren acquires the Sith beacon, a three-sided artifact guiding him to Emperor Palpatine on Exegol. Upon arrival, the spectral Emperor discloses that he was the creator of Supreme Leader Snoke (Andy Serkis) and had been the voice that guided Kylo Ren towards the dark side since his fall, speaking to him internally as Han Solo and Leia Organa’s son. This revelation unveils that Kylo Ren is responsible for killing his father, eliminating his master, and attempting to obliterate what was left of the rebellious Resistance during a confrontation with his uncle, Jedi Master Luke Skywalker, on Crait.

In a continuation of my cinematic journey, I find myself delving into Marvel’s “Star Wars: Legacy of Vader” #1, a captivating comic series that picks up where the epic clash at Crait in 2017’s “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” left off. Kylo Ren, now Supreme Leader, is tormented by Luke Skywalker’s final, taunting words, “See you around, kid.”

This ongoing tale from the pens of writer Charles Soule (previously of “Darth Vader”) and artist Luke Ross (“Journey to Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker — Allegiance”) serves as a bridge between the events of “The Last Jedi” and “The Rise of Skywalker.” As Supreme Leader Ren takes control of the First Order, we witness the tumultuous transition that unfolds.

On the First Order’s flagship called the Finalizer, Supreme Leader Ren reveals Snoke’s decapitated body to a multitude of First Order stormtroopers. “Look at what your adversaries have accomplished,” he declares. “Snoke is deceased. The Resistance is responsible for his death. I am Kylo Ren. Your Supreme Leader.” As he casts Snoke’s remains into the void, Ren utters, “This marks an end. This signifies a new beginning.

Struggling to let go of my past, especially the memory of my father’s demise at the hands of my own transformation into Kylo Ren in ‘The Force Awakens’, I find myself grappling with these haunting visions. As Supreme Leader, my immediate concern is to seek counsel from my trusted advisor, General Hux. He informs me that the First Order has suffered a significant blow, losing its shipyard after the destruction of Starkiller Base and also our flagship, the ‘Supremacy’, along with a substantial part of our fleet, following the Battle of Crait.

1. Tasking Hux with constructing a throne befitting a Supreme Leader, Ren secretly communicates with Vader’s burned mask salvaged from the pyre on Endor in private.

2. In secret, Ren orders Hux to design a throne fitting for a Supreme Leader, while also conversing with Vader’s charred mask retrieved from the funeral pyre on Endor.

3. While ordering Hux to create a throne worthy of the Supreme Leader, Ren engages in private discussions with Vader’s burned mask that he salvaged from the pyre on Endor.

4. In secret, Ren assigns Hux the task of crafting a throne befitting a Supreme Leader, and during this time, he communicates with Vader’s charred mask taken from the pyre on Endor in private conversations.

5. Ren instructs Hux to build a throne worthy of the Supreme Leader, while also maintaining private discourse with Vader’s burned mask retrieved from the funeral pyre on Endor.

6. In private, Ren commands Hux to construct a throne befitting a Supreme Leader and holds discussions with Vader’s charred mask salvaged from the pyre on Endor.

Ren inquires of the helmet, ‘For such a long time, you’ve been doing this? For decades, you ruled over the weak, and now I wonder if this was enough for you? I thought I wanted to walk your path, but I realize now that I am not you. I am not Vader, nor Luke, nor even Han Solo… I am not any of them. I’m asking myself, why, after letting go of the past, do I still feel bound?’

Ren understands that there are unresolved matters from his past, and he needs to deal with them further. “There’s more work to be done. More needs to perish,” Ren says to Vader’s helmet. “I’ll begin with you.” He journeys to Vader’s castle on Mustafar, relentlessly cutting through the Alazmec of Winsit as he addresses the guards, “Don’t you recognize who I am? Let me demonstrate. Are you aware of my actions? I have shattered legends. Even my own blood.

Do you all believe this is your chance to bring me down? Is this when I should fall?” Ren’s outburst of frustration persists. “Not at all. I am Kylo Ren, and my rule has only just begun. My rise to power is just getting started.” Vaneé, who once served the Dark Lord, witnesses Ren’s fury from his spider-like droid form. Vaneé proposes to serve Ren as he once did his grandfather, but Ren desires more than mere service – he wants to eliminate the past by taking Vaneé’s life.

In simpler terms, Ren states that Darth Vader and their current location represent the past, a burden he struggles to carry due to its rules, traditions, and unresolved issues. He wants to eliminate every trace of it and gain freedom. Vaneé counters by saying that for Darth Vader, his past was his strength, as he never forgot or abandoned his painful experiences, using them as fuel for his power. Vaneé offers to teach Ren how Darth Vader transformed his past into a source of power.

In response, Ren states: “Let’s see.” Subsequently, Supreme Leader Kylo Ren and Vaneé are headed back to the origin – Tatooine, where Anakin Skywalker’s journey began.

Star Wars: Legacy of Vader #1 is on stands now. Issue #2 goes on sale March 12.
