Gaga, ooh la la.
Lady Gaga surprised fans with a new look on November 21st in Paris. Leaving Laurent restaurant, she debuted dark black hair, a big change from her usual platinum blonde style.
For dinner, the 39-year-old styled a mint green Tom Ford suit, pairing an oversized blazer with matching pants. She finished the outfit with a black bralette and chic, oval sunglasses.
Grammy-winning singer Lady Gaga, who is engaged to Michael Polansky, recently finished the European part of her Mayhem Ball Tour in Paris on November 22nd. She’s continuing the tour with shows in Australia in December and then Japan in January.
Besides her current tour, Lady Gaga is expected to make a big return to acting. She appeared with Joaquin Phoenix in the 2024 film Joker: Folie Ă Deux, and sources say she filmed scenes for The Devil Wears Prada 2 in Milan last October.
TopMob News reached out to 20th Century Studios for comment at the time but did not hear back.
Although the specifics of her role are still secret, she’s one of several new actors joining Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci in the upcoming sequel. Simone Ashley, Lucy Liu, and Pauline Chalamet are also new cast members, along with Justin Theroux, BJ Novak, and Conrad Ricamora, as TopMob News reported in July.

When the movie comes out in May 2026, Adrian Grenier wonât be returning as Nate Cooper, Andy Sachsâ boyfriend from the original 2006 film. Several news sources have confirmed that the actor, known for his role in Entourage, will not be in the sequelâs cast.
Before the new Devil Wears Prada movie comes out, here are some fun facts and stories from the making of the original filmâŠ

Even before the book The Devil Wears Prada was published, a movie adaptation was already being planned. Fox executives were impressed with just the first 100 pages and a story outline, which was based on author Lauren Weisbergerâs experiences as an assistant to Vogueâs editor-in-chief, Anna Wintour. Carla Hacken, a former Fox executive, told Variety in 2016 that she was the first at the studio to read it and immediately recognized the character of Miranda Priestly as a fantastic villain. She remembered the studio quickly moved to secure the rights to the story.
Oh my gosh, you won’t BELIEVE the story behind getting this movie made! They started working on it even before the book was a huge bestseller in 2003! Can you imagine? But it was a mess for a while â four different writers tried to just tell the story as it was written, and it just wasn’t working. Then, thankfully, Aline Brosh McKenna came in and totally got it. She realized the real heart of the story was about the things women give up to climb the ladder in the fashion world. She told The New York Times she actually wrote a first draft in just a month! A MONTH! Then she went back and rewrote it, taking everyone’s feedback. It was a lot of work, but she nailed it. It’s perfect, honestly!

Creating the story for the film presented challenges, particularly when it came to getting people in the fashion industry to share their experiences. According to author McKenna, people feared retribution from Anna Wintour and Vogue and were hesitant to speak. One anonymous source even told McKenna that the characters were portrayed as too kind, noting that people in that world simply don’t have the time or inclination to be nice. McKenna then revised the story to make the characters more driven and less accommodating.
Director David Frankel told Entertainment Weekly that Anna Wintourâs influence created some challenges finding filming locations. The Met Gala meant the Metropolitan Museum of Art wasnât available, and Bryant Parkâthen the regular home of New York Fashion Weekâwas also off-limits.
We couldn’t even get permission to film in some of the famous apartment buildings we considered for Miranda’s place â the co-op boards turned us down. Finally, a producer friend, Wendy Finerman, let us borrow a five-story townhouse on the Upper East Side.

Bethenny Frankel shared that the team perfectly recreated Anna Wintourâs office for the movie. According to Frankel, production designer Jess Gonchor secretly visited Wintourâs actual office to study it. The recreation was so accurate that she heard Wintour redecorated her office soon after the filmâs release, according to an interview with EW.

The costumes for the movie also proved difficult to source. According to Frankel, well-known designers were hesitant to loan clothing, fearing the disapproval of Anna Wintour.
The film’s incredible wardrobe was crafted by renowned costumer Patricia Field, who gathered around 150 items from designers like Donna Karan, Zac Posen, Rick Owens, and even Prada. She made sure Meryl Streep’s portrayal of Miranda Priestly had a distinct style from Anna Wintour. As Streep joked, “Everything was borrowed, so we had to be extra carefulâno spaghetti at lunch!âbecause we couldnât risk getting sauce on the clothes and not being able to return them.”

Anna Wintour seems to have a good sense of humor about the situation. Meryl Streep spoke with the editor-in-chief of Vogue for the magazine’s 125th anniversary issue, discussing her role as Katherine Graham in the 2017 film, The Post. When asked which character was the most difficult to portray, Streep began to answer, but Wintour playfully interrupted, saying with a laugh, “No, no! Let’s not talk about that, Meryl.”
Wintour actually did see the movieâthe same screening as her former assistant, Weisberger. Later, she told 60 Minutes that while it was entertaining, the film wasnât an accurate portrayal of life at the magazine.

Meryl Streep was the only actress the studio considered for the role of Miranda. Studio VP Hacken told Variety they didn’t even think about anyone else, admitting, “I just kept hoping it would be Meryl.” When Streep’s agent called to say she’d read the script and was willing to meet with the director, Hacken was so excited she briefly put the agent on hold to celebrate. “I was yelling with joy in my office,” she said.
Meryl Streep explained to Entertainment Weekly that she admired the characterâs strength and refusal to compromise herself. She appreciated that the character didn’t shy away from her flaws, and that she didnât try to be likable to get what she wanted â something Streepâs friend, Carrie Fisher, used to describe as being overly accommodating. Streep noted that the character simply didn’t engage in that kind of behavior.

Before agreeing to the role, Meryl Streep did something very similar to the demanding character she would play. Although she had already won two Oscars and received eleven other nominations, she wasn’t used to negotiating a higher salary. However, this time, she confidently asked for more money.
She told Variety that the initial offer felt a little low, and didn’t quite reflect how much she brought to the project. After she was prepared to walk away, they doubled it. She was 55 years old and had recently learned to negotiate for herself.
Streep also requested specific scenes to avoid portraying Miranda as a one-dimensional character. She wanted to show Mirandaâs expertise in fashion, particularly the famous scene about the cerulean sweater, and a more vulnerable side, shown when Miranda is alone and unguarded in the hotel room.
I’ll never forget hearing about how Meryl Streep became Miranda Priestly. Apparently, she showed up to a meeting with the studio head already sporting that iconic white hair. Director David Frankel told Entertainment Weekly that Meryl completely embodied the character right then and there. He said the studio executives looked into her eyes, and not a single person said a word about the hair â they were just completely captivated by Miranda. It was incredible!

As someone who follows Hollywood closely, I always find it fascinating to hear behind-the-scenes stories. Did you know Anne Hathaway really had to fight for her role in The Devil Wears Prada? She’s shared that she was actually the ninth choice for the part! She mentioned it on RuPaul’s Drag Race, and honestly, it’s a testament to her talent and perseverance. It makes you appreciate her performance even more, doesn’t it? It was definitely more work than even Andy had to do for Miranda!
You know, landing the role of Andy Sachs in The Devil Wears Prada wasn’t just handed to me! I didn’t even have to audition, which was amazing, but I definitely had to be persistent. I really went for it â I even wrote ‘hire me’ in the sand of the director’s zen garden! I was at home, getting dressed with friends around, when I found out. I completely lost it â I ran into the living room, half-dressed, yelling ‘I got The Devil Wears Prada!’ over and over. It was a truly unforgettable moment.

Luckily for Anne Hathaway, the studio’s first choice for the role turned it down multiple times. Director Frankel told Entertainment Weekly they offered the part to Rachel McAdams three times. At the time, McAdams was filming The Family Stone and, after starring in hits like Mean Girls and The Notebook, she didn’t want to immediately take on another popular, mainstream movie. According to Frankel, the studio really wanted McAdams, but she was set on not doing the film.
You know, even Kate Hudson had to pass on a dream role once! She shared with me on Capital FMâs Capital Breakfast show that it really came down to timing. She wished sheâd been able to make it work, but it just wasnât feasible at the time. She actually said when she first saw the script, her immediate reaction was, ‘Ugh!’ It just wasnât the right moment for her, and those things happen even to the biggest stars.
Meryl Streep, impressed by Anne Hathaway’s performance in the 2005 Oscar-winning film Brokeback Mountain, played a key role in casting Hathaway in The Princess Diaries. Director Garry Marshall remembered that Streep saw a scene from Brokeback Mountain, then spoke with Hathaway and contacted Fox executive Tom Rothman, telling him, ‘This actress is fantastic, and I think we’d work well together.’

Finding the right actress for Emily proved particularly challenging. Frankel auditioned over 100 women for the role of Mirandaâs tough assistant â including Tracie Thoms, who later auditioned for the part of Andyâs friend Lily â but it was Emily Blunt, dressed down and relaxed, who really stood out.
Emily Blunt was already auditioning for the film Eragon at the Fox studio when a casting director asked her to read for The Devil Wears Prada. As she told The Late Late Show in May 2021, she was in a hurry to catch a flight and felt flustered during the audition. She recalled reading lines while wearing sweatpants, which wasnât a very glamorous look for the part!
A few days after losing out on the role in Eragon, Emily Blunt received a call from casting director David Frankel. She explained to Variety that she was at a club in London and had to take the call from the bathroom. Frankel told her that while he liked her audition, the studio wanted to see her again, this time dressed more like the character.

Emily was originally conceived as an American character, but after Kate Blunt performed the sharp dialogue with her British accent, the writers quickly changed the character’s background. As screenwriter McKenna explained to Entertainment Weekly, they met for coffee, reviewed the script, and added British phrases and expressions to fit Bluntâs accent.
Emily Blunt shared that she often draws inspiration from real life, even ‘stealing’ moments she observes from others. She recounted an instance on The Howard Stern Show where she overheard a frustrated mother in a supermarket scolding her child. The mother used a specific gesture â opening and closing her hand â while saying, ‘Yeah, I’m hearing this, and I want to hear this.’ Blunt found the moment so authentic that she incorporated the line and gesture into one of her films, and it’s now a memorable part of her performance.

I’ll never forget when Stanley Tucci joined the cast! The producers were really struggling to find the perfect actor to play Nigel, the art director, for months. Thankfully, he said yes at the very last minute, as he told Entertainment Weekly. And honestly, he became Nigel. He just nailed that dry wit, and so much of what the character says was actually improvised by him â those lines are truly iconic!
Stanley Tucci recalled fondly a scene where Miranda arrives at the office, causing a comical panic among the staff. He told Buzzfeed that the cast kept bursting into laughter, and director David Frank kept improvising lines for him. Ultimately, ‘Gird your loins’ made the final cut, though they also considered â and laughed at â a line Tucci himself suggested: ‘Tits in!’ He shared this detail with Entertainment Weekly.

What I find truly heartwarming about Stanley Tucci is how much his family means to him. He’s stayed close with Emily Blunt, even getting invited to her wedding to John Krasinski back in 2010. It was there he reconnected with Felicity Blunt â who’s now his wife! They married in 2012 and are parents to two wonderful children, Matteo and Emilia. It just goes to show you, the best things often come from unexpected places, and family is everything to him.
As Joe Tucci shared with People magazine, he first met his current wife at the premiere of a film in 2006. He was still married to his late wife, Kate, who had just been diagnosed with breast cancer at the time. He explained that he made the film, Kate began treatment, and then they attended the premiere. Kate lived for four more years after that. Interestingly, FelicityâEmilyâs sister and now Joeâs wifeâand Kate actually spoke at the premiere, and Joe has a photo of them together, which he finds quite strange.

Rosario Thoms, similar to Anne Hathaway, clearly remembers when she found out she’d been cast as Lily â it was her 30th birthday in August 2005. While she felt good about her audition â having often played supporting, ‘best friend’ roles, she thought Lily would be a natural fit â she was still incredibly excited to get the news.
She remembered being at Dartmouth, workshopping a new play by Alan Ball. She found out she’d been cast in The Devil Wears Prada quite casually â someone told her over lunch in the cafeteria. “It was like, ‘By the way, you got The Devil Wears Prada.’ And it was my birthday!” she said. “It’s a really nice birthday memory for me.”

Thoms recalls seeing Adrian Grenier, who was very popular at the time due to his role in Entourage, surrounded by enthusiastic fans. Instead of signing autographs, Grenier cleverly gave each fan a CD by his band, The Honey Brothers.
Thoms observed that Josh Grenier, playing Andy’s boyfriend Nate, used the role as a chance to highlight his bandmates, since he wasn’t the lead singer. Thoms admired how Grenier thoughtfully acknowledged everyone’s support and actively returned that appreciation to his fellow band members.

Honestly, my recent experience was incredible â it felt like we were living a real-life version of Sex and the City! Of course, we weren’t actually filming a show, but it had that same vibrant New York energy, that feeling of trying to navigate adulthood in the city. But if I’m being completely honest, there’s just one thing I wish I’d done differently.
She had a specific idea for how to react to the Marc Jacobs bag that Lily and Thoms clearly wanted in a particular scene. She asked the props team to keep the bag hidden until filming began, so her surprise would be real. “That’s why I was genuinely gasping and reaching for it â the bag was just stunning!” she explained.
She confessed to TopMob News that the purse was so beautiful she’d actually planned a way to keep it. She even imagined a scene where she’d accidentally leave it in her trailer and never return it, but that part of the story was removed. Sadly, she never got the chance to take the purse with her when she finished working.

Meryl Streep didn’t travel to Paris for the film. Originally, no one was scheduled to film in Paris for the scenes depicting Miranda and Andy’s trip to Paris Fashion Week. Director David Frankel was shocked by this, but he created a compelling preview that convinced the studio to move the film’s release to the summer and increase its budget.
Hathaway and Simon Baker (playing Christian, her other love interest) traveled to France to film for two days. However, Meryl Streep filmed her scenes in New York, as the studio said it would be too expensive to fly her to France.

Meryl Streep actually ended up missing out on a lot of the enjoyable moments on set. She later told Entertainment Weekly that fully immersing herself in her stern Miranda character and distancing herself from the usual joking around was a really unpleasant experience. She could hear everyone having fun and felt quite down about it, but told herself it was worth it to convincingly play the boss. She says that was the last time she ever tried such a deeply immersive acting technique.
I’ll never forget the first time I met Meryl Streep on set! Anne Hathaway told People that before Meryl got into character and became a bit distant, she gave Anne the sweetest little pep talk. She basically said, ‘I really think you’re going to be amazing, and I’m thrilled to be working with you…but just so you know, that’s the nicest thing you’re going to hear from me!’ It was such a funny and memorable moment, and really showed Meryl’s dedication to her craft.
That’s all.Â
