The Cooper family will see a familiar face return! Lance Barber, who played George Cooper Sr., is reprising his role in Episode 18 of the show’s second season.
The next episode of Young Sheldon will bring back several familiar faces, including Raegan Revord (Missy), Zoe Perry (Mary), Doc Farrow (Wayne), Matthew Letscher (Fred Fagenbacher), and Rex Linn (Principal Petersen). They’ll be joining Montana Jordan (Georgie) and Emily Osment (Mandy). The cast celebrated the reunion by creating a fun TikTok video, which Revord, Jordan, and Barber shared online.
This marks the second time actor Jim Barber has played George Cooper Sr., previously appearing in Season 1 of Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage. His initial return was unexpected, given that his character died on Young Sheldon. This time, however, his involvement in Season 2 was announced by Entertainment Weekly some time ago, though the specifics of how he’s back remain a secret.
Everyone on set is delighted to have Barber back, and Jordan has said it was wonderful reuniting with the cast. He explained that they always enjoy having members of the ‘Cooper family’ return, because the cast and crew had a close, familial atmosphere both on the original show and on this one.

After The Big Bang Theory finished in 2019, Young Sheldon quickly became a popular show for its fans. And now that Young Sheldon is ending, CBS is prepared to continue the story with a new series called Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage.
The show quickly became popular on CBS, attracting existing fans and leading to a second season order in February 2025. The first part of Season 2 aired in the final months of 2025, and it was renewed for a third season in January 2026.

Although fans still hope for a complete Big Bang Theory reunion, the current focus is on Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, which will likely follow their relationship until they eventually separate. A new spin-off, Stuart Fails to Save The Universe, was also announced in 2023. It will star Kevin Sussman as Stuart Bloom, the comic book store owner, who accidentally breaks a machine belonging to Leonard and Sheldon, causing a rift in reality and forcing him to try and fix everything.
Season 2 of Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage premieres on CBS and Paramount+ on Thursday, February 26th, at 8 p.m. Eastern and Pacific time.
