Season 2 of Landman finally focused on a supporting character’s story outside of the main oil industry conflicts. Despite only airing four episodes so far, Paramount has already renewed the Billy Bob Thornton series for a third season, suggesting a promising future for this popular show.

I was so excited to hear that the premiere of Landman Season 2 broke records for Paramount+ – over 9.2 million views in just two days is incredible! What’s really promising is that the new season is expanding the story beyond just Tommy Norris and his family. It feels like there’s a lot more to explore this time around, and I’m really looking forward to seeing where it goes.

Who Is Charlie In Landman Season 2? Guy Burnet’s Landman Character Explained

The story introduces a new character, Charlie (played by Guy Burnet), who Rebecca Falcone (Kayla Wallace) meets while flying on M-Tex’s private jet. Burnet, a British actor previously seen in shows like Counterpart alongside J.K. Simmons, joins the cast of the oil drama.

Charlie works long hours in the oil fields for M-Tex, and he likes to unwind with a homemade cocktail of watermelon juice, vodka, and simple syrup – which he carries in a thermos. On a flight, he offers some to Rebecca, and after a bumpy start to the flight, Falcone joins them for a drink.

Charlie, a generally easygoing person, confides in her travel companion that she struggles with control, especially during flights. After a few drinks on the plane, Falcone starts to unwind, and we see a different side of Wallace’s character in Season 2 of Landman. Rebecca and Charlie’s drunken conversation also reveals more about Burnet’s new character.

Rebecca returned to Charlie’s apartment and was surprised, even disturbed, to wake up there the next morning. His apartment was luxurious and decorated with calming, natural elements, which took some getting used to, but she eventually found herself enjoying them. They made plans to see each other again, and Rebecca began to wonder if Charlie could be more than just a friend, potentially adding a new chapter to her life.

Rebecca Falcone Lacks Character Development In Landman

So far in Landman, Rebecca Falcone hasn’t had much development beyond her work on M-Tex’s legal cases. We know she’s a highly skilled and successful lawyer, but audiences haven’t learned much about who she is as a person, with only brief hints of her personality outside of the courtroom.

This new connection for Rebecca gives Falcone a more significant role in the larger story of Landman, beyond just working for the company. While it’s only a beginning – her storyline in “Dancing Rainbows” doesn’t do much to move beyond the controlling personality she’s become known for – it has the potential to lead to more meaningful character growth.

Despite everything, Landman should prioritize its main storylines, like Tommy’s struggles with money and Cooper Norris’s deal with Gallino. While Rebecca’s story felt a bit lengthy in the latest episode, developing Wallace’s character is important for a few crucial reasons.

Although the writer of the show could easily keep Rebecca as a minor character, it would be better to develop her more. She currently lacks complexity, and adding depth to her personality could strengthen the emotional resonance of the story, as long as it doesn’t overshadow the main plot about Norris.

Can Rebecca and Charlie’s Romance Last In Landman Season 2?

In Season 2, Episode 4 of Landman, Charlie and Rebecca share a noticeable connection, but they’re very different people, making their potential relationship seem uncertain. The show plays with the idea that opposites attract, and we see Rebecca, a high-pressure lawyer at M-Tex, hesitantly trying Charlie’s aromatherapy pods, which surprisingly help her unwind.

Charlie quickly made a big difference in how Rebecca was feeling. Rebecca might finally recognize what she’s been looking for in a friend, or she could push him away due to her cautious and reserved personality. It would be great to see a new romance develop in Landman, separate from the ongoing relationship between Colt and Angela (Ali Larter).

It’s still unknown exactly what Charlie does at M-Tex, and this could impact his relationship with Rebecca, who has very high expectations. Burnet’s character spends a lot of time working outdoors, but it’s unclear whether he’s directly working on the oil rigs or managing things from a distance. Either way, fans are hoping Landman Season 2 will continue to develop the potential romance between them, as many are already invested in Charlie’s story.
