Landman season 2 spoilers ahead.
The second season of Taylor Sheridan’s intense drama, Landman, has finished, leaving viewers with plenty to consider about the Norris family and their dealings with M-Tex Oil.
If you enjoy Yellowstone, you’ll quickly understand Taylor Sheridan’s style in Landman. He expertly mixes dramatic, sometimes over-the-top storylines with humor, all while building intense, suspenseful moments. The main difference is that instead of cowboys and horses, this series focuses on the world of oil.
When the season began, Tommy Norris (Billy Bob Thornton) was dealing with the aftermath of Monty Miller’s death and the new leadership of his widow, Cami (Demi Moore), who had taken over M-Tex. However, their initial collaboration quickly fell apart as Cami made increasingly risky business decisions, while Tommy favored a more cautious approach.
Okay, so at the end of episode nine of Landman season two, things really shifted. Cami had to let Tommy go – he just wasn’t on board with her aggressive plan to drill in the Gulf. And honestly, she really threw her lot in with Dan Morrell, that super-rich guy played by Andy Garcia, who, let’s just say, isn’t exactly a choir boy. It felt like a huge turning point!
Will things be fixed by the end, or is Tommy’s relationship with M-Tex completely over?
Here’s a detailed, spoiler-filled explanation of how season 2 of Landman ends, with updates on what’s happening with each member of the Norris family.
Landman season 2 ending explained

Who is Tommy working for now?
The season 2 finale was chaotic, much like the movie Uncut Gems, as Tommy’s life spiraled out of control. It was a wild ride, but incredibly compelling to watch.
According to Tommy, Cami fired him because he was treating the company like a serious business, rather than a cherished project or a passion. Luckily, he already had another job offer from Chevron. But Tommy had an even bigger idea, and surprisingly, he was able to make it happen.
The situation begins when Tommy asks Nate for the contract between M-Tex and Cooper, related to Tommy’s promising new oil drilling ventures. It’s a risk, but Nate believes Tommy will be able to handle it.
Nate receives a job offer from Cami to lead M-Tex, but he turns it down. He’d rather quit than watch the company fail, and he encourages Cami to sell it instead of continuing to operate it.
Things really pile up for Tommy. He’s dealing with Angela discovering he’s out of work, a massive problem involving this guy Cooper – I’ll explain that in a sec – and he almost gets wrecked in a highway accident while he’s driving all over Texas, completely focused on his own little quest.
Tommy couldn’t convince any other businesspeople to help with his plans for Cooper’s land because they didn’t want to risk being implicated in the embezzlement scheme or getting caught between him and M-Tex. Frustrated, Tommy decided to go back to the source of the problem and talk to Dan.
Dan confirmed he’s committed to the deal with Cami, even if it means financial loss, because he believes in her. He also has a lot of respect for Tommy and trusts his decisions. Because of this trust, Dan is prepared to provide $44 million to cancel the existing agreement for Cooper’s drilling project and then invest an additional $18 million in future drilling locations. While he cautions Tommy about the serious consequences of failure, it’s a promising time for the Norris family.
Despite speculation that Tommy and Cooper might end up competing in the oil business, they’re actually partnering up. Tommy has started a new company, CTT Oil Exploration and Cattle – a nod to the Yellowstone universe – and he’s made Cooper its president. Tommy will be VP, and important positions will also go to his father, TL, along with Nate, Rebecca, Dale, Boss, and Ariana.
The Norris family ends the episode on a high note. They’ve secured the rights to drill on seven square miles of land rich with oil, partnered with Dan on a 50/50 deal, and built a company with fantastic employee benefits. It was a close call, though – everything nearly fell through.
Cooper and Ariana fight for their lives

Another key storyline leading up to the finale involved Ariana being attacked outside her workplace, and Cooper stepping in to help. However, Cooper reacted with excessive force, severely beating the person who assaulted her.
Okay, so while Ariana’s at the station giving her statement, things take a really dark turn. The detectives start grilling Cooper, and it quickly becomes clear they’re trying to make him the fall guy. Apparently, Ariana’s attacker didn’t survive – he had a heart attack – and the police are really keen to blame Cooper for his death. It’s a classic setup, and honestly, it feels a little too convenient.
Fortunately, Ariana reaches Rebecca, and her lawyer immediately heads to the police station to intervene. The resulting confrontation is intense and rewarding, as Rebecca sharply criticizes the detectives for supporting a rapist and unfairly portraying Cooper as the villain when he was just protecting his fiancé. She’s well-prepared, exposing a past incident where one of the detectives used excessive force, firing eleven shots at a suspect. She warns them that she’ll file a lawsuit if they press charges against Cooper, effectively resolving the situation.
To completely resolve the situation and protect Cooper, Tommy goes to the police station. He intimidates the officers and the district attorney by hinting he’ll expose their actions to the media, effectively silencing any remaining doubts or potential problems.
The Norris family are all set for Landman season 3

You can’t talk about Landman without thinking of Angela. Her relationship with Tommy provides a lot of the show’s entertainment, and while they used to fight a lot, their love for each other has clearly deepened.
It’s funny, but Tommy actually has his father to thank for this situation. When Angela brought T.L. to live with them, everyone was worried about conflict, but Tommy and his dad ended up getting closer as the season went on, and they both learned valuable lessons from each other.
Most importantly, TL urges his son to cherish his loved ones and fully enjoy his time with Angela. By the end of the season, Tommy clearly understands this, telling Angela how much she means to him. While they aren’t married yet, a wedding seems very likely in season 3.
