It’s unusual for a show to become a big hit on a streaming service, but it’s even stranger when that show features a lot of comedians, and its success is measured by how little the audience laughs.
Amazon Prime Video’s Last One Laughing UK is a hilarious competition where some of the UK’s top comedians try to make each other laugh – the catch is, they’re not allowed to laugh themselves! The last comedian who hasn’t cracked a smile wins.
Following the incredible popularity of the first season in 2025, the show is returning this spring. Host Jimmy Carr explains to RT that while the format is the same, everything else is new – a fresh lineup of comedians and an even more intense competition. He describes it as comedy taken to a sporting level.
Mel Giedroyc, a new contestant, explains that doing a second season of a show like this has both advantages and disadvantages. She believes the first season was wonderfully spontaneous and fun, but a follow-up comes with increased pressure and expectations after people have seen the original.

Carr noted the competition was tougher this time around. The other players were prepared and focused, demonstrating a clear understanding of the game.
“Which isn’t to say that we didn’t also have a brilliant time!” Giedroyc adds. “We had an amazing gang. I mean, stellar.”
The comedy show boasts a lineup of both established and rising stars, including David Mitchell, Romesh Ranganathan, Amy Gledhill, Diane Morgan, Maisie Adam, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Sam Campbell, and Alan Carr, who recently won Celebrity Traitors. They’re all hoping to keep the audience laughing – and the show running smoothly – this time around.

And we’re excited to welcome back Bob Mortimer, a popular guest from ‘Would I Lie to You?’ and the winner of the first series, who’s hoping to win again!
Mortimer said he wasn’t planning on returning, but he was thrilled to be invited back, explaining that the experience is truly one-of-a-kind.
From the moment I arrived, I could tell things were different – the atmosphere was completely unlike anything I’d experienced before. Because of that, I didn’t feel like I had an edge.

Last One Laughing UK streams on Prime Video.
