Laura Dern would never say anything to ruin the friendship.
The actress from Big Little Lies was careful not to reveal any hints about the possible clues hidden in Taylor Swift’s “Bejeweled” music video. Fans have been speculating that her appearance contains easter eggs related to Swift’s new album, The Life of a Showgirl, and she knew how to talk about it without giving anything away.
Responding to rumors about the video – which had a style similar to Taylor Swift‘s latest album – Laura playfully told Erin Lim Rhodes of TopMob News in a private conversation, “I’m just incredibly fortunate to be friends with Taylor Swift.”
Though she didn’t say anything about her brief appearance in Taylor Swift’s “Bejeweled” music video, the award-winning actress was eager to talk about how Taylor Swift inspired her Apple TV+ show, Palm Royale, which will begin streaming its second season on November 12th.
Laura, who plays feminist activist Linda Shaw in the comedy, thinks Taylor’s character would have gotten along well with one of her co-stars. The show also features Allison Janney, Kristin Wiig, Carol Burnett, and Leslie Bibb.
The actress, known for Jurassic Park, explained that she knew Evelyn—Allison Janney—and that they both used to work as showgirls together.
However, Laura doesn’t believe she’d be a member of the country club if the show were real.
According to the creator, ‘Palm Royale’ reflects modern life and social media. It’s a world where you’re either striving to be part of an exclusive group, or you’re focused on your own affairs.
“You have a choice in life,” Laura added, “and I would not know how to survive.”
Laura isn’t sharing details about her future acting roles, including whether she’ll be back in Monterey, California, for season three of Big Little Lies.
Laura would only say that she and her Big Little Lies costars—Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Shailene Woodley, and Zoë Kravitz—are having fun together.
“We’re obsessed to be together as much as humanly possible,” she teased, “this group of ladies.”
The first episode of Palm Royale will be available on Apple TV+ on November 12th, with new episodes released every week until January 14th. Before it arrives, check out some other shows premiering later this year.
