Legally Blonde prequel TV series Elle releases first-look trailer as beloved character is once again a fish out of water

It’s a long way from her glitzy LA life but Elle Woods is trying her hardest to fit into Seattle in the new trailer for Prime Video’s Legally Blonde prequel series, Elle.

Okay, so I just watched the trailer for the new ‘Legally Blonde’ adaptation, and Lexi Minetree completely embodies Elle Woods. It opens with her living her best life in ’90s Bel-Air โ€“ think endless shopping sprees, tons of friends, and a seriously glamorous lifestyle. She even says, looking around at a fabulous party, “I’m so lucky to have this life, I wouldn’t change a thing.” It really sets the scene before, you know, everything inevitably does change for her!

Elle’s comfortable life is turned upside down when her parents suddenly announce they’re moving to Seattle. We then see her struggling to adjust on her first day at a new high school, where she clearly doesn’t fit in.

It’s just so frustrating to watch her! She really puts effort into fitting in โ€“ she tries to dress like everyone else and is always super friendly, trying to make connections. But then people just accuse her of being fake! It’s like, she’s just trying to be herself and get along, and it’s never enough.

I’m really curious to see if Elle will figure things out and finally find some friends. When a big scandal hits the school and everyone starts digging for the truth, it turns out Elle might actually be the key to solving everything โ€“ way more helpful than anyone initially realized!

You can watch the trailer for yourself below.

Elle’s cast includes June Diane Raphael as her mother, Eva, and Tom Everett Scott as her father, Wyatt. Gabrielle Policano, Jacob Moskovitz, Chandler Kinney, and Zac Looker also join the ensemble, along with Minetree.

The show also stars Jessica Belkin, Logan Shroyer, Amy Pietz, Matt Ober, Chloe Wepper, David Burtka, Brad Harder, Kayla Maisonet, Lisa Yamada, and James Van Der Beek, who all appear in multiple episodes.

We already know the series is coming back for another instalment, with season 2 having already been confirmed ahead of season 1’s release. Original movie star Reese Witherspoon is working closely on the series through her production company Hello Sunshine and also serves as executive producer on Elle.

When season 2 was announced, she shared her excitement, saying it had always been a dream to tell the story of how Elle Woods became the confident and inspiring character everyone adores, especially since it’s been 25 years since audiences first met her.

Elle sees Laura Kittrell (Insecure) take the helm as creator and showrunner, with the series mapping out what life was like for Elle before we met her in the original 2001 comedy film and subsequently, the 2003 sequel.

The first season of ‘Elle’ takes us back to Elle Woods’ high school years, before she ever arrived at Harvard. Set in 1995, the show explores the challenges of teenage life โ€“ navigating complicated friendships, first loves, and some pretty questionable outfits!

Throughout everything, Elle relies on her family, especially strengthening her relationship with her mother. They demonstrate that they can overcome any obstacle together, as long as they have each other. Every difficulty Elle faces helps her become the confident and beloved Elle Woods we all know.
