Plus, we got a first look at the gameplay and the characters who will be featured. Here’s a rundown of everything we know about the newest LEGO Batman game.

When LEGO Batman Comes Out

The release date for LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is set for May 29, 2026, as revealed at last night’s Game Awards. If you pre-order the Deluxe Edition, you’ll be able to start playing on May 26 – three days before the official launch. This is just over five months from today, and the announcement came with a new gameplay trailer featuring LEGO Batman himself.

The trailer for LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight shows a large story campaign that follows Batman’s beginnings. Players will be able to choose from multiple characters, drive over 20 different vehicles, and collect more than 250 items to showcase in the Batcave.

LEGO Batman: Legacy Of The Dark Knight Preorders

Preorders Have Already Begun

You can now pre-order LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight on most gaming systems, though Nintendo handheld owners might have to wait a bit longer.

Hey everyone, I just wanted to let you know you can now preorder the digital version of Legacy of the Dark Knight! It’s available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC – I’m grabbing mine on Steam. They have both a Standard and Deluxe Edition, so you can pick whichever one fits your style. No news on physical copies yet, but I’m guessing we’ll hear about those closer to the game’s release if they’re planning on making them.

Everyone who preorders the game—no matter which platform or version—will get a special bonus: a Batsuit inspired by Frank Miller’s classic Dark Knight Returns comic. Expect a gray suit with a blue hood and mask, staying true to the look of the original series and available when the game launches.

You can’t preorder LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight for the Switch 2 just yet. Nintendo hasn’t announced a firm release date for the game on the new console, but it’s currently expected to be released by the end of 2026. You can add it to your wishlist now, though!

LEGO Batman: Legacy Of The Dark Knight Editions

Standard & Deluxe

LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is available in two versions: Standard and Deluxe. The Standard Edition includes the game itself, and if you pre-order, you’ll get a small bonus. The Deluxe Edition costs a bit more, but you’ll receive extra perks like early access and two downloadable content packs.

The Standard Edition is available for $69.99 on all platforms. It comes with the main game and a special Dark Knight Returns Batsuit if you preorder before May 29th.

The Deluxe Edition of LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is priced at $89.99. If you pre-order, you can start playing three days before the official launch, as early as May 26th. This edition includes the full game, the early access bonus, and two downloadable content packs: the Legacy Collection and the Mayhem Collection.

When the game launches, players can purchase The Legacy Collection. This pack includes three sets of cosmetic items. Each set features a unique suit for every character—that’s 21 suits total—along with a new Batmobile and five decorative items for the Batcave.

  • Arkham Trilogy Pack
  • Batman Beyond Pack
  • Party Music Pack

The Deluxe Edition also includes the Mayhem Collection, a downloadable expansion coming in September 2026. This adds a new game mode called Mayhem Mode, letting you play as The Joker and Harley Quinn in a unique story mission. You’ll also get the Sinister Pack, featuring seven new character suits, a new Batmobile, and five decorative items for the Batcave.
