LEGO’s Star Wars Smart Bricks Sets Are Up For Pre-Order (And Here’s Why You Should Care)

LEGO is known for its imaginative sets, but its newest creation might be its most impressive yet, with huge potential for future builds. The LEGO Smart Brick packs powerful technology into a small piece, allowing for more interactive play. This new ‘Smart Play’ system is launching with Star Wars sets, and the first ones are now available for pre-order.

The new Smart Play series uses Smart Brick technology and currently features three sets: Darth Vader’s TIE Fighter, Luke’s Red Five X-Wing, and the Throne Room Duel & A-Wing. The TIE Fighter set costs $69.99 and has 473 pieces, while Luke’s X-Wing is $89.99 with 581 pieces. The Throne Room set is the priciest at $159.99 and includes 962 pieces. All three sets are available for pre-order now.

How Does LEGO’s Smart Brick Change Each Star Wars Set?

I’m fascinated by these sets, and what’s really cool is that even though each one uses the Smart Brick in a unique way, the way you interact with it is consistent across all of them. The Smart Brick itself has lights and sounds, and it’s so clever – you simply put it on the included Smart Tag, and that tells it exactly what sounds and effects to play. It’s a really intuitive system!

The TIE Fighter set has cool features, like placing the Smart Tag inside to trigger engine sounds and lights when you move it. It also makes sounds for lasers, refueling, and repairs. You can even activate Darth Vader for more play!

The Luke Skywalker X-Wing set features realistic sounds and lights – you’ll hear engine noises, lasers firing, and even sounds for refueling and repairs! It comes with 5 Smart Tags that work with the X-Wing itself, an Imperial Turret, a Transporter, the Command Center, and R2-D2. Plus, it includes two Smart minifigures of Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia.

The Throne Room set comes with 5 special tags that work with LEGO’s Smart Tech. These tags bring the A-Wing, Throne, Death Star Turret, and lightsaber battles (with 2 tags included for the duel) to life. You can attach Smart Bricks to Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker figures and hear their lightsabers clash! The set also includes an Emperor Palpatine minifigure, and placing a tag in the Throne Room will even play the Imperial March, along with other sound effects.

I’m really curious to see what LEGO creates next with this technology – I’m excited to follow their journey and see what amazing things they come up with!
