Leighton Meester Teases Return to Music After 11-Year Hiatus

Leighton Meester is ready to pull on fans’ heartstrings again. 

The former Gossip Girl star suggested she might start making music again, more than 11 years after releasing her first album, Heartstrings.

Leighton said on the red carpet at the I Love LA premiere in Los Angeles on October 28th that she’s almost prepared for something challenging. Speaking to Erin Lim Rhodes of TopMob News The Rundown, she admitted it would take a lot of effort, but she plans to tackle it eventually.

Currently, Leighton is busy with her television work. She recently appeared on Netflix’s Nobody Wants This and will star as Alyssa in I Love LA, which debuts on HBO Max November 2nd. The show also features Rachel Sennott, Josh Hutcherson, Jordan Firstman, and Odessa A’zion.

For the Country Strong actress, shooting the comedy series was a memorable experience from day one. 

Leighton Meester remembered her very first day on the set of the show involved filming a nighttime scene with a dancer. She joked that she received a lengthy lap dance that lasted the entire night.

Leighton Meester is looking forward to Halloween and spending quality time with her family. The 39-year-old actress, who has a 10-year-old daughter named Arlo and a 5-year-old son with her husband, Adam Brody, is excited about the upcoming holiday.

Leighton said she loves Halloween, especially decorating. It’s a really fun time for her family, and even more special now that they have kids. They enjoy all the traditions and making it a memorable occasion.

Leighton Meester, known for her role in Monte Carlo, stepped away from making music for eleven years. She previously explained that she decided to leave the pop music scene after releasing her album Heartstrings in 2014.

She explained to Bustle in May that she wasn’t happy with her vocal performance on those songs. That’s why she moved away from that type of songwriting – she simply didn’t enjoy singing it.

Leighton added, “That was something that I figured out in my 20s.”
