The rumors are true: Leon Kennedy will be in the upcoming Resident Evil Requiem. For almost 30 years, the Resident Evil series has given us iconic characters like Chris Redfield, Jill Valentine, and Leon himself, all known for fighting zombies and other creatures. While the series shifted focus with Resident Evil 7, opting for a first-person perspective and a new lead character, it still allowed for appearances from established heroes like Redfield.
Leon Kennedy is returning to the main Resident Evil series after a decade-long absence, last appearing in 2012’s Resident Evil 6. He’ll be a key character in Resident Evil Requiem, serving as one of the game’s two protagonists. The game will focus on Grace Ashcroft’s terrifying experiences, similar to the last two Resident Evil titles, while Leon will provide the high-octane, action-packed gameplay fans expect. Check out the first look at Leon in action below.
Leon Kennedy is most famous for being the main character in Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 4, both highly acclaimed games. His consistently cool and collected personality has made him a popular and engaging hero. He always manages to defeat villains and seems to thrive in dangerous situations, a trait that’s particularly evident in Resident Evil Requiem.
It’s uncertain how much the player will control Leon in the new game. While Grace seems to be the main character, Leon will likely have a significant amount of gameplay time. Resident Evil games aren’t usually very long, and this one is expected to take around 10 to 12 hours to complete, at most. Whether Leon will be playable for half of that time is still a mystery. Capcom kept most of the game under wraps this year, releasing very little footage. The trailers mostly showed the same parts of the game, likely to keep key details secret.
While there might be more details to come, it’s fantastic to officially confirm Leon’s appearance in Resident Evil Requiem. Fans have been waiting a long time, and the release date of February 27th, 2026, is almost here!
