There’s no bad blood between Lewis Capaldi and Taylor Swift.
Speculation about a connection between Taylor and Lewis began after they both appeared on The Graham Norton Show in October. Taylor was there to discuss her album, Life of a Showgirl, and Lewis performed his song “Something in the Heavens.” During the show, host Graham Norton asked Lewis about his new EP, but Lewis revealed he’d been told he wasn’t allowed to discuss it. Some viewers thought this was because the show was prioritizing Taylor’s album promotion and that Lewis wasn’t able to promote his own EP, Survive, as a result.
Okay, let’s clear up some confusion! I’ve heard the rumors swirling around, but honestly, they’re completely untrue. The story about what’s been going on with my upcoming EP? Total hogwash! The truth is, it just hadn’t been officially announced yet. My record label asked me to keep things quiet for a little while, and I was happy to oblige. It’s all about building the right anticipation, you know?
He mentioned seeing a TikTok video accusing Taylor Swift of something negative, calling it ‘completely made up’ during an interview on KIIS FM’s Kyle and Jackie O Show on December 11th. He explained that the accusation surfaced before his own EP announcement.
Graham was aware of the project because he originally suggested it. Lewis admitted fans had a general idea about his new music, but he wasn’t authorized to discuss it publicly at that point.
My record label asked me not to talk about my upcoming release before it was officially announced. It wasn’t a strict rule, just a request to keep it under wraps. But then, when I was on the Graham Norton show, he announced I had a new EP coming out! I was surprised because I thought I wasn’t supposed to be the one to mention it.
Lewis Capaldi strongly denied the suggestion that Taylor Swift had caused any problems, calling it “complete and utter nonsense.”

Taylor was completely supportive throughout their time together on the show. Right before Lewis seemed unsure about discussing his EP, Taylor actually complimented his performance, showing her genuine appreciation.
“The song is beautiful,” she told Lewis in front of the audience. “Like an angel.”
Taylor understands what it’s like to be unfairly accused of things, but she’s always managed to move past it. Here’s a look back at some of her most memorable moments over the years.
