On Friday, June 27th, 2025, after several weeks of anticipation, Lewis Capaldi confidently took the stage once more at the iconic venue, Glastonbury.
Over the past two years, the Scottish musician has stayed off the stage following his appearance at the Worthy Farm festival. During that performance, he encountered difficulties due to a sudden Tourette’s Syndrome episode.
Lewis shared a brief statement following the event, saying he was planning to “step back temporarily for self-care and mental wellness.” He then stayed out of the limelight for about two years.
However, on Friday, Lewis made a poignant comeback to the music scene, performing before thousands in person and countless others at home. The emotional concert left many spectators in tears.

Lewis, too, felt deeply moved by the performance, expressing to the audience, “I won’t say much up here, or I’ll begin to cry. I’ll keep it brief. The past three years haven’t been easy.
“This has been my goal, to get back here, doing this.”
In simpler terms, Tourette’s Syndrome, a neurological disorder characterized by involuntary physical and vocal tics, can sometimes cause an individual to lose their ability to speak, as was the case with Lewis during his performance in 2023.
At Glastonbury, as Lewis found it challenging to perform his popular song “Someone You Loved,” the audience stepped up to offer their backing, collectively singing the entire track along with him.
Toward the conclusion of his performance at Glastonbury in 2023, he expressed to the audience: “I apologize, Glastonbury. Honestly, I’m a little upset with myself.

Lewis, who openly talked about his Tourette’s syndrome in interviews and the Netflix documentary titled ‘How I’m Feeling Now,’ later issued an apology to the organizers of Glastonbury Festival through a statement that read: “I deeply regret my actions and I truly hope Eavis will extend another invitation, as this experience has been less than ideal.
I’m planning to take a short hiatus for the following fortnight or so, which means our interactions may be limited until the end of this year.
After a two-year hiatus, it appears that Capaldi used this time to regain top form. Not only did he come back, but he also presented fresh tunes, debuting his latest single “Survive” at midnight before his show.
One spectator expressed their feelings by writing: “Did anyone else find themselves tearing up while witnessing Lewis Capaldi’s comeback at Glastonbury?
It’s heartening to witness Lewis Capaldi performing again and sharing candidly about his battles with mental health, remarked someone else, further noting, “It’s possible to endure and improve in life.
It’s quite thrilling to watch Lewis Capaldi on BBC iPlayer at the moment! So many people are showing up for an impromptu performance, and it feels like he’s back where he truly belongs – at Glastonbury.
Later on, Lewis expressed: “What a delight to return to Glastonbury! Many thanks for the warm welcome!
