Lex Luthor Star’s Bulked-Up Transformation Revealed For Superman Team-Up In James Gunn’s Man Of Tomorrow

Superman will return to the DC Universe in 2027 with a new movie, tentatively titled Man of Tomorrow. This will continue the story of Clark Kent, following his debut in 2025. DC Studios is quickly moving forward with the character’s next chapter after the upcoming Superman film.

Filming for Man of Tomorrow is expected to begin soon, and Nicholas Hoult is already getting in shape to reprise his role as Lex Luthor. Trainer Paolo Mascitti recently posted a video on Instagram showing Hoult’s intense workout routine and impressive physical transformation for the DC Universe.

Nicholas Hoult will reprise his role as Lex Luthor in the first chapter of the DC Universe, following a brief appearance in season two of Peacemaker. This will show what Lex has been up to after the events of Superman. When he next encounters David Corenswet’s Superman in 2027, their relationship will be different than before.

The upcoming Man of Tomorrow film will see two traditionally opposing DC characters team up to face a common, greater danger. James Gunn confirmed in December 2025 that Lars Eidinger will play Brainiac in the 2027 movie, marking the character’s first appearance in a live-action film.

Deadline reported on February 6th that Isabela Merced will return as Hawkgirl in the upcoming film Man of Tomorrow, following her appearance in Superman (2025). She’ll be joined by Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane and Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr. Director James Gunn has stated that Batman and Wonder Woman won’t be in the movie, but DC Studios is currently casting a new, currently unnamed, female character for the story.

The DC Universe (DCU) will be back in action on June 26th with the Supergirl movie, featuring Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El. DC Studios’ Man of Tomorrow is scheduled to hit theaters on July 9, 2027.
