Liam Neeson’s son Daniel Neeson is on the mend.
The son of actor Liam Neeson recently had surgery to correct a heart condition he was born with. He had an enlarged aorta and a stretched left ventricle, both caused by a rare defect in his aortic valve – a condition known as a bicuspid aortic valve.
Daniel shared in an Instagram post on March 3rd that around 2% of people have this condition, but most are unaware. He explained that it can remain hidden for years before leading to problems with heart valves or an enlarged aorta.
Daniel, who Liam shared with his late wife Natasha Richardson and their son Micheál Richardson (30), was born with a medical condition, but he never knew exactly when it would start causing problems.
I had regular heart checkups throughout my life. Eventually, doctors noticed my heart’s main pumping chamber and aorta were becoming enlarged. I knew I would eventually need surgery, and unfortunately, I was diagnosed early – much earlier than most people with the same condition.
Even though Daniel knew about his health condition, and is planning to marry his partner Natalie Ackerman, he said having surgery meant letting go and trusting the process.
He went on to say it felt strange to realize a major life struggle had actually been growing within him for years. He found peace in knowing that while he couldn’t always control what happened, he could control how he thought about things and his inner state of mind.
He stressed how much he had to rely on the excellent surgeons and nurses at NewYork-Presbyterian’s Weill Cornell Medical Center, who cared for him, and also on his own strength.

He explained that getting through this wasn’t about not being afraid. It was about embracing the process of recovery and fully focusing on the present moment. He viewed the surgery as a meaningful ritual, rather than just a medical event.
Daniel used what he learned to emphasize how important it is to prioritize and maintain your health.
He described his recovery as a slow, beautiful, and ultimately fulfilling process. He emphasized the importance of self-advocacy and paying attention to what your body needs. He also recommends that everyone, not just those with existing heart problems, get their heart checked by a cardiologist.
Ultimately, the key is to fully embrace the present. Let go of fear, knowing that the universe supports you when you go with the flow.

As a lifestyle expert, I always say it’s amazing how things can turn around! I was so fascinated to hear Amy Schumer talk about her health journey. After doing a lot of press, people started commenting on her face, and honestly, she was a little annoyed at first. But then something incredible happened – doctors actually started chiming in, noticing something potentially serious. They thought she might have Cushing syndrome, possibly caused by high cortisol levels or steroid injections. It made her realize she had been getting steroid injections after her breast reduction and C-section. She said she wouldn’t have even known about the possibility of Cushing syndrome if it hadn’t been for all the online chatter! Now, she’s just incredibly relieved that it’s a type of Cushing syndrome that will resolve on its own, and she’s healthy. It just goes to show you, sometimes the internet can actually lead you to answers – and that’s the greatest news of all!

In March 2022, Hailey Bieber experienced a frightening health scare while having breakfast with her husband, Justin Bieber. She suddenly started having stroke-like symptoms, and couldn’t speak or control the right side of her face. Although these symptoms eventually passed, she went to the hospital for tests. Doctors discovered she’d had a small blood clot travel to her brain, which they identified as a TIA, or transient ischemic attack. Further examination at UCLA revealed Hailey had a hole in her heart called a patent foramen ovale (PFO). This hole allowed the blood clot to reach her brain, causing the TIA. Hailey has since undergone a successful procedure to close the PFO and is now doing well.

The same year Hailey faced a health issue, Justin also experienced one. In June 2022, he revealed he had been diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome, which caused temporary paralysis on one side of his face. This forced him to cancel the remaining dates of his Justice World Tour.
In a video posted to Instagram, Justin explained the condition affected the nerves in his ear and face, preventing him from blinking, smiling, or moving his nostril on the affected side. He also shared that it was becoming increasingly difficult for him to eat.
Fortunately, the paralysis eventually went away. Hailey later appeared on Good Morning America and said Justin was recovering well, adding that while the situation was frightening and unexpected, he was going to be okay and she was thankful he was doing better.

But recently, he finally shared what happened in his Netflix special, What Had Happened Was…, and it was incredibly moving. Initially, a doctor gave him a cortisone shot and sent him home, but thankfully his sister, Deidra Dixon, knew something wasn’t right and insisted on taking him to the hospital. That’s where they discovered he’d had a brain bleed which led to a stroke.
Twenty days after surgery, he woke up on May 4th in a wheelchair, unable to walk. He then went to Chicago for intense rehab and therapy to regain his strength. He’s so grateful for all the prayers he received, saying he truly needed every single one. It’s amazing to see his recovery and hear him share his story – it’s truly inspiring!

A hospital scan revealed she had suffered a subarachnoid hemorrhage – a life-threatening stroke caused by a ruptured aneurysm. She immediately underwent surgery to repair it, but the pain was excruciating. During her recovery, she experienced aphasia, leaving her unable to speak coherently.
Though she left the hospital after a month, a 2013 scan showed the aneurysm had grown and required a second surgery.
