Lindsay Lohan had the ultimate look in London.
On July 31, the actress from “Freaky Friday” graced the red carpet at the Odeon Luxe Leicester Square for the movie’s premiere. She honored her character Anna Coleman’s unique style from the initial film, which was released nearly two decades ago.
In a stylish touch, Lindsay donned a custom-made lavender halter dress by Ludovic de Saint Sernin, featuring a bodice reminiscent of a bustier and gold trimmings adorning the bust and torso. To top it off, she accessorized with a red handbag shaped like a guitar from Judith Leiber, perfectly complementing her ensemble.
The overall appearance – including the dress and handbag – was an homage to the outfit Anna wore in the last scene of the 2003 movie, when she performed with her band Pink Slip at Tess Coleman’s (Jamie Lee Curtis) wedding to Ryan (Mark Harmon). In that scene, a young Lindsay made a powerful impression on stage wearing a lavender halter dress with similar lace details while playing her ruby red guitar.
After the opening night, Lindsay – who went with co-stars Jamie, Chad Michel Murray, Julia Butters, and Sophia Hammon – posted a series of pictures highlighting her dress, accompanied by the memorable caption, “London, You’re Simply Marvelous!

For the duration of the promotional tour of “Freakier Friday,” the 39-year-old has been both residing in and fashioning clothing that stirs up nostalgia, sporting attire reminiscent of the early 2000s, such as a mini dress by Roberto Cavalli and a plaid ensemble from Balmain.
Clearly, Lindsay continues to leave a mark with her trendy flair. In fact, even Chad confessed that their daughter, aged 8, was starstruck upon meeting Lindsay, her costar.
Chad remarked at the Freakier Friday red carpet on July 22, mimicking his daughter’s awestruck look upon meeting Lindsay. “She doesn’t act like that usually,” he added.
He mentioned that it seems likely she’ll step onto one of these rugs shortly. It feels like her natural place, yet it’s strange, as characters we see on screen often appear more real when we encounter them in person.

The 2003 movie “Freaky Friday” is actually the second remake of Mary Rodgers’ 1972 novel with the same title. An earlier film adaptation was released in 1976, and a television version came out in 1995.
In the attempt to persuade Jodie Foster, who portrayed Annabel in the 1976 movie, to accept the role of the mother, the film’s producer, Andrew Gunn, extended an invitation. However, Foster declined due to fears that her involvement might divert attention away from the project.
Actor Annette Bening initially got the role of Tess Coleman, but she had to withdraw from the project just six days prior to the start of filming.
4. Following her rise to stardom as the first scream queen in the movie “Halloween”, Jamie Lee Curtis believed her leading roles had ended, until director Mark Waters asked her to take over the part that was originally intended for Bening.
In an interview with The Telegraph in 2003, Curtis shared that he was 44, slightly overweight, had grey hair and didn’t want to color it, and he was happy with his life. He also mentioned that, in this profession, he’s always understood that there comes a time when the wise move is to gracefully exit the stage.

After studying the script and conversing with Waters, Curtis chose to assume the matriarch character by coloring her hair and mastering guitar skills. This transformation was intended to rejuvenate her career, as she put it, “Demonstrates the power of embracing freedom and liberation.
6. Following her breakthrough performance in “The Parent Trap“, Lindsay Lohan temporarily stepped away from the limelight, expressing that she felt disoriented by her sudden rise to stardom.
In her interview with IGN back in 2003, she expressed that the success of “The Parent Trap” was sudden and remarkable for her. She then questioned how one could possibly surpass such a brilliant film. To escape the limelight, she desired a normal life, which led her to attend high school and participate in two projects on Disney Channel, simply to maintain her status quo.
But when she came across the script for Freaky Friday, Lohan knew it was “perfect” for her.

7. To land the role of Anna, Lindsay Lohan outperformed four other contenders initially, but during her audition, Waters found it subpar, as he stated in a 2005 episode of TopMob’s True Hollywood Story. Yet, he also mentioned that she possessed an undeniable star quality with a tumultuous and vibrant energy that they believed would bring an intriguing twist to the character.
Initially, Kelly Osbourne was chosen to portray Lohan’s friend in the film, but she declined after her mother, Sharon Osbourne, received a diagnosis of colon cancer, opting not to participate in the movie instead.
In an interview with Cosmopolitan in 2013, Osbourne expressed that he had to decide between pursuing a career or spending what might have been the final moments of his mother’s life with her. Given the choice, he made it plain: “Off with you, career! Hello, Mother.” As a result, he devoted himself fully to caring for his mother around the clock.

9. In her debut film, Lindsay Lohan shared her first on-screen kiss with Chad Michael Murray, portraying the character Jake, who was Anna’s love interest. During an interview, Lohan remarked, “By the 15th take, I wasn’t feeling too anxious anymore!
10. In 2019, during an episode of Busy Tonight, Murray disclosed that he and Curtis shared a kiss off-screen as well to ease Lohan’s nerves before their on-camera smooch. When Curtis invited Lohan and Murray into her trailer to break the ice before filming, Murray recalled that Curtis “just pulled me by the back of my head and kissed me.” His response? “Wow, I just kissed Jamie Lee Curtis! This is fantastic!
11. Originally, Tom Selleck was chosen to play Tess’ boyfriend Ryan, but he left the production after Bening departed. Later, Mark Harmon stepped into the role and formed a strong bond with Curtis, which led to her appearing as a guest star on Harmon’s popular CBS series, NCIS.
12. Band member Amir Derakh from Orgy instructed Curtis and Lohan on playing the guitar. Eventually, Lohan recorded her debut song, “Ultimate,” for the soundtrack.

In the closing scene, Lindsay Lohan’s mother, Dina Lohan, makes a brief appearance as a guest at the wedding.
In the 1976 film, Marc McClure, known for his role as Annabel’s romantic interest, briefly appears under a different character – Boris, the delivery man.
15. In an unusual twist of events, Harry (Ryan Malgarini) and Grandpa (Harold Gould) accidentally opened their transformative fortune cookies at the exact moment an earthquake struck, hinting at the possibility of a follow-up storyline.

As a lifestyle expert, I couldn’t help but notice the buzz surrounding a potential sequel after Curtis shared at the 2022 Halloween Ends press event in Mexico City that she’d “absolutely” return as Tess. She even gave us an intriguing glimpse into her friendship with Lohan, jokingly saying she’d put the Mean Girls actress through a test to ensure their text conversations weren’t part of a clever phishing scheme!
Curtis reminisced about a memorable scene from the movie, where they were trying to learn the rap embedded in a Justin Timberlake song. Specifically, he referred to “Like I Love You” as the tune they were attempting to master while munching on French fries in the car and jotting down the lyrics together.
Approximately three months prior to the 20th anniversary of the initial film, it is anticipated that Curtis and Lohan will exchange bodies once more. TopMob News has verified that a sequel to the movie is currently being developed.
