Lisa Vanderpump’s Nephew Sam Shares He Has “End Stage” Liver Disease

Lisa Vanderpump’s family is facing a devastating health diagnosis.

Sam Vanderpump, nephew of a former star of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, recently shared that doctors have given him only a few years to live due to serious health problems with a vital organ.

During the October 27th episode of Made in Chelsea, the 28-year-old revealed they received a devastating call from doctors: they have end-stage liver disease. The doctors said their liver won’t recover and don’t expect them to live more than four or five years. They are now being evaluated to see if they’re a candidate for a liver transplant.

Even though he recently received a serious medical diagnosis, the reality TV star—who is expecting a baby with his fiancée, Alice Yaxley—shared with his colleague, Ollie Locke, that he’s choosing to concentrate on enjoying the current moment.

“Right now, I’m feeling good and healthy,” he said. “I’m hoping that continues until I eventually need surgery, and then I’ll wake up feeling even better.”

Sam has been quite ill recently, requiring several hospital visits in December. What started as bad back pain and dehydration quickly became much more serious, leading to liver and kidney failure. He was diagnosed with sepsis, a dangerous condition caused by the body’s overwhelming response to an infection. Doctors said he could have died if he hadn’t sought treatment when he did – just 24 hours later might have been too late.

Looking back, we were all confused about what was happening,” he said on Good Morning Britain in May. “I wasn’t feeling well and kept having to go back to the hospital, and honestly, nobody – not even the doctors – could figure it out.”

Although Sam and his family went through a tough time with his health scare, something good did come out of it. The experience helped him realize what was truly important, which led him to propose to his partner.

Sam shared that he knew almost immediately after meeting his girlfriend – now his fiancée – that he wanted to marry her. After a life-changing experience made him realize how precious time is, he decided to propose right away.

Nikki Bella, known from Total Bellas, shared that one of her breast implants moved after being hit during the elbow of fellow wrestler Piper Niven in a match back in July 2025.

She reassured her sister, Bella Garcia, saying they would get the issue resolved eventually. Lupita Nyong’o, known for her role in 12 Years a Slave, received a diagnosis of uterine fibroids—non-cancerous growths in or around the uterus—in 2014, the year she won an Academy Award for her performance in the film.

She didn’t reveal her diagnosis until 2025, when she shared on Instagram that she had been privately struggling with it for over ten years.

She explained that growing up, she was taught to expect periods to be painful, and to accept that pain as a normal part of womanhood. This often leaves people feeling like they’re dealing with a common but difficult experience all on their own.

Okay, so I was really surprised to hear this, but Riley Keough, who you probably know from Daisy Jones & The Six, recently shared that she had to be hospitalized! Turns out, wearing super tight pants actually caused her to develop a hernia – which is basically a little gap that can form in your abdominal or groin muscles. It’s a good reminder that even fashion choices can impact your health, and comfort is key!

Someone messaged Suki on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, asking why she hadn’t been tweeting. Suki jokingly replied that she’d been hiding a serious injury – a hernia caused by wearing very tight pants six months ago – and was afraid to mention it.

In April 2025, the former star of Beverly Hills, 90210 shared that he was recovering from surgery to repair a nearly ruptured appendix.

Brian shared in an Instagram video that he recently experienced stomach pain which led him to the emergency room. He explained that his appendix had a hole in it – it hadn’t fully burst, but was very close to doing so.

He added, “I’m on the road to recovery. It’s not an easy process. This is my first major surgery.”

Oh my gosh, it was terrifying! Our girl, the midfielder for Racing Louisville, just went down a few minutes into the game against Seattle Reign on September 14th at Lumen Field. I was watching, and it was awful – she just collapsed! I’ve been following her career for ages, and I was so worried!

According to Reuters, the U.S. Women’s National Team player was seen slowly sitting down on the field with a teammate supporting her, just before collapsing. Trainers were immediately called to assess her condition.

Savannah received immediate medical attention on the field and was taken to a nearby hospital for more tests, according to a statement from the National Women’s Soccer League. They reported that she is currently in stable condition and is alert.

Adam Devine revealed that injuries from being hit by a cement truck at age 11 continue to cause him problems now.

“It’s been incredibly difficult,” Devine shared on the In Depth With Graham Bensinger podcast in 2025. “I’ve been experiencing spasms all over my body, and doctors recently told me I was facing a life-threatening situation—within the last year, actually.”

I’ve been thinking a lot about pain lately, and it’s just something you learn to live with, you know? My body definitely isn’t perfect – it has its quirks and things that just don’t quite work the way they should. It’s just part of who I am now.

I was so worried to hear that one of our Bachelor stars recently ended up in the hospital! Apparently, he was dealing with terrible back pain that got even worse on an RV trip. He actually said he had to crawl on all fours because it hurt so badly. It’s just awful to think about, and I’m sending him all my best wishes for a speedy recovery.

He described a strange tingling sensation that still lingered in his knees and toes as of a March 2025 podcast episode of Trading Secrets. To illustrate the issue, he explained that just a few weeks or a month prior, he was able to squat 295 pounds. Now, he can’t even do a squat, struggles with single-leg squats, and loses his balance, comparing the feeling to having a stroke.

But with the help of a back specialist and some steroids, he added, “We’re on the mend.”

In March 2025, the actor from 30 Rock experienced a medical issue at a New York Knicks game and had to be taken out of Madison Square Garden in a wheelchair.

Okay, so I totally freaked out when I heard he wasn’t feeling well! But then, thankfully, he posted an update – it was just food poisoning! Huge relief. He said he’s getting better, and honestly, that’s all I needed to hear. I was so worried, but it’s good to know he’s on the mend!

In February 2025, the former Even Stevens star revealed she was shot in the face during a birthday celebration for her husband, Brendan Rooney. They were on a clay pigeon shooting trip when the incident occurred.

In an Instagram post, she explained that she was accidentally shot in the face by someone at a party who fired a weapon unsafely. Brendan Rooney quickly helped her, evaluating her injuries and immediately taking her to the hospital. She was hit five times, and one bullet narrowly missed her right eye, coming within less than an inch of hitting her.

Oh my gosh, you will NOT believe this! She told everyone that a tiny piece of something got stuck behind her eye! Like, seriously?! And the doctors are saying it’s too dangerous to try and take it out right now. She says she can still see perfectly, thank goodness, but they’re going to keep a close watch on her just in case. I’m so worried, but relieved she can still see! It’s just…so her to get into some crazy situation, even off-screen!

The actress expressed immense gratitude for surviving a frightening experience. She shared her deep love for her daughters, husband, family, and friends, emphasizing how quickly life can change. She urged everyone to cherish their loved ones and hug them whenever possible, as life is precious and unpredictable.

Amy Schumer is grateful for the internet, despite its downsides, because it helped her discover a health issue. After noticing she looked “puffier” and receiving negative comments online, doctors began commenting on interviews, suggesting she might have Cushing syndrome, a condition often linked to high cortisol levels or steroid injections. This prompted Schumer to realize she’d been receiving steroid injections after a breast reduction and C-section. She wouldn’t have known about the condition without the online scrutiny. Thankfully, doctors determined her case of Cushing syndrome would resolve on its own, and she’s now happy and healthy, calling the news “the greatest news imaginable.”

In December 2024, an AHL player suffered a skate cut during a game and needed 25 stitches to close the wound. After his son made a full recovery, New Jersey Devils General Manager Tom Fitzgerald told ESPN how grateful they were, saying, “We feel very lucky, and no parent should have to go through that.”

In March 2022, Hailey Bieber experienced a frightening health scare while having breakfast with her husband, Justin Bieber. She suddenly started having stroke-like symptoms, unable to speak and experiencing drooping on the right side of her face. Although these symptoms eventually passed, she went to the hospital for tests. Doctors discovered she’d had a small blood clot travel to her brain, which they identified as a TIA (Transient Ischemic Attack). Further investigation at UCLA revealed Hailey had a hole in her heart, called a patent foramen ovale (PFO). This hole allowed the blood clot to reach her brain, causing the TIA. Hailey successfully underwent a procedure to close the hole in her heart and is now doing well.

The same year Hailey faced a health issue, Justin also experienced one. In June 2022, he revealed he had been diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome, a condition that caused temporary paralysis on one side of his face. This forced him to cancel the rest of his Justice World Tour.

In a video posted to Instagram, Justin explained that the virus affected the nerves in his ear and face, preventing him from blinking, smiling, or moving his nostril on the affected side. He also mentioned it became increasingly difficult to eat.

Fortunately, the paralysis eventually went away. Hailey shared on Good Morning America that Justin was recovering well and feeling much better, adding that they were grateful he was going to be okay. It had been a frightening and unexpected situation.

Jamie Foxx recently shared details about the health scare he experienced in April 2023, which he had initially kept private. He explained that while in Atlanta, he suffered a severe headache and asked for aspirin, but then lost consciousness. He doesn’t remember the next 20 days.

Initially, a doctor gave him a cortisone shot and sent him home, but his sister, Deidra Dixon, became concerned and took him to the hospital. There, he was diagnosed with a brain bleed that led to a stroke.

After surgery, Jamie woke up in a wheelchair on May 4th, unable to walk. He then went to Chicago for rehabilitation and therapy. He expressed his gratitude for the prayers he received, saying he needed them all.

The reality TV star said she briefly stopped breathing while running in the first challenge of the NBC competition show, describing it as feeling like she ‘died’.

She shared on the show Fit for TV: The Reality of The Biggest Loser that her memory of the event was fragmented. She recalled hearing a helicopter, feeling like she was floating, and then seeing her grandfather. After that, everything went dark, but she then experienced a bright light, leading her to realize she had died that day.

Honestly, it was terrifying. She said her body was actually failing, like, shutting down organ by organ. Turns out she had this thing called rhabdomyolysis, and she explained it’s basically your body’s way of screaming, ‘I’m done!’ It just… it’s so scary to think about! I was on the edge of my seat listening to her explain it.

Emilia Clarke, known for her role in Game of Thrones, revealed a harrowing health battle in a 2019 essay for The New Yorker. While filming the show, she experienced a sudden, severe headache while at the gym. She described collapsing and being violently ill, realizing something was seriously wrong with her brain.

A hospital scan quickly revealed she had suffered a subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), a life-threatening stroke caused by a ruptured aneurysm. She underwent immediate surgery to repair it, but the pain was excruciating. During her recovery, she experienced aphasia, struggling to speak coherently.

Though the aphasia eventually passed and she was discharged after a month, a 2013 scan revealed the aneurysm had grown and required a second surgery. This procedure failed, causing a massive bleed, and doctors warned her survival was at risk. A more invasive surgery, requiring access to her brain through her skull, became necessary.

Fortunately, Emilia reports she has now made a full recovery and is at 100%.

Cori Broadus, Snoop Dogg’s daughter, recently shared her gratitude for her family’s support after she suffered a stroke in January 2024. She immediately contacted them, sending a text and a picture, and they quickly came to her aid, as she told TopMob News’ Will Marfuggi in December 2024. While she could have been discharged after the stroke, Cori ended up staying in the hospital longer due to complications with her lupus and kidney issues. Thankfully, Cori is now recovering well. “I’m doing great,” she said. “I just needed to work on regaining some motor skills, but overall I’m doing fine.”

Shailene Woodley struggled with serious health issues throughout her early twenties. In a September 2024 podcast interview, she explained that she experienced hearing loss, extreme fatigue, and digestive problems. She saw many doctors who offered different diagnoses, leaving her feeling confused and frustrated.

Drawing on her background in holistic medicine and herbalism, Shailene sought answers from both traditional doctors and alternative healers, hoping to find relief and understand her body. This search for wellness lasted for ten years.

The physical discomfort led to deeper emotional struggles, including fear of food, body image issues, and a sense of disconnect from herself. She described a challenging journey of self-discovery and finding safety within her own body.

Fortunately, Shailene’s health eventually improved. She’s now happy and healthy, and grateful to have resolved the issues she faced.
