Over five years have passed since Netflix announced their intentions to create a series based on Ubisoft’s open-world franchise. According to recent reports, several creative teams have been involved only to depart, leaving Robert Patino and David Wiener in charge. Notably, Patino was the producer for Westworld and Sons of Anarchy, while Wiener has worked on Fear the Walking Dead, Homecoming, and the Halo TV series.
The TV show revolves around a hidden conflict between two mysterious groups: one aiming to decide human fate by controlling and manipulating it, while the other strives to protect individual freedom. The story unfolds as the characters move through significant historical moments, struggling to influence mankind’s future.

In their statement today, Patino and Wiener expressed their enthusiasm and humility at the chance to transform the game series into a television production. They noted that beneath the grandeur, action, and excitement lies the foundation for the most fundamental kind of human story – one about individuals seeking meaning, grappling with questions of identity, destiny, and faith. It encompasses themes of power, violence, sex, greed, and vengeance. However, above all, this is a show that emphasizes the importance of human relationships, bridging cultural and temporal gaps.
Margaret Boykin from Ubisoft further commented, expressing excitement about creating a memorable experience for ‘Assassin’s Creed’ enthusiasts, while also sharing the enchanting realms and enduring ideas of this franchise with global viewers who are yet to discover it.
Previously, an effort was made to create a live-action version of the Assassin’s Creed video game franchise, just like the 2016 movie featuring Michael Fassbender which drew its inspiration from the series. Unfortunately, this film wasn’t well-received by critics, earning a Metacritic score of 36.
