Lizzo thinks it’s about damn time trolls stop talking about her body.
Lizzo responded to online criticism with a strong statement, addressing those who have been making fun of her.
On December 4th, the 37-year-old shared on Instagram, along with a photo of herself in a yellow bikini, that she’d seen a viral joke making fun of her weight, supposedly from the future (2025). She explained that it was a silly joke simply targeting her because of her size. She used the experience to encourage others to ignore body shaming, emphasizing that people will always find something to criticize, regardless of your size. She stressed that your body is for you, not for anyone else’s approval.
Lizzo, who has openly discussed her weight loss since 2023, told online critics to focus on their own lives instead of commenting on her body.
The singer, known for her hit “Good as Hell,” has a clear message: whether she chooses to get cosmetic surgery like a Brazilian Butt Lift, loses a significant amount of weight, or gains it back, it’s nobody else’s concern but her own.
Lizzo concluded her post by responding to her critics, saying, “Regardless…I’m happy and thriving, owning my home outright, while you’re just being negative.”

The Grammy-winning artist recently responded to criticism just a week after openly discussing her mental health journey and how it led her to focus on changing her body and improving her health.
I realized I needed a serious shift in how I felt, physically and emotionally. For years, I’d been carrying around a lot of unresolved grief since losing my dad back in 2009. On top of that, I’d been stuck in some really damaging relationships starting around 2011, and then, starting in 2016, I took on the responsibility of financially supporting my family. Honestly, I just needed to release all of that weight – to finally let it go.
Lizzo says she remains committed to supporting women of every body type and size.
She noticed a troubling trend halfway through the 2020s: websites are removing extended sizes, plus-size models are getting fewer jobs, and it seems like the industry is pushing a smaller body ideal. Despite this, she proudly identifies as a plus-size woman – objectively over 200 pounds – and maintains her self-love regardless of the number on the scale.

Lizzo has shared that she’s been in on “intentional weight release journey” since 2023.
That year, she was also sued by some of her former dancers who claimed she fostered a negative and abusive workplace, and that she criticized them for their weight. She strongly refuted these claims.
I’m driven by a strong work ethic and I always aim for the best,” she shared on Instagram. “Leading a team sometimes requires tough choices, but I never want anyone to feel unimportant or uncomfortable.
Honestly, hearing her say that just… got me. She totally understands what it’s like to be judged for your body, like I do every single day, and she was so firm about it – she’d never fire someone just because of their weight. It was such a relief to hear, you know? Like, finally someone gets it! It felt so personal, like she was speaking directly to people like me.
While not actively working on an album, Lizzo announced in August 2024 that she was taking a break to focus on her well-being, calling it a “gap year & protecting my peace.”

Lizzo admittedly has her ups and downs when it comes to her body.
She admitted to The New York Times in April 2024 that she doesn’t always love her body. ‘It really varies day to day,’ she explained. ‘Some days I feel great about it, and other times I don’t feel so positive.’

On September 18, 2024, Lizzo shared a before-and-after video on TikTok. It showed her initially wearing a black two-piece outfit, then transitioning to a gray bodysuit.
As she captioned the clip, “Fine both ways.”

Lizzo jokingly responded to rumors that she used Ozempic, saying the accusations came after she’d already been working out for five months and eating at a calorie deficit, according to an Instagram post on September 20th.

Okay, let’s talk style! I spotted this amazing look recently – a Grammy winner was grabbing lunch and absolutely nailed it. She wore this incredible sheer black and white dress by Jean Paul Gaultier, layered over a black bodysuit – so chic! She then added a cool, edgy vibe with a leather trench coat casually draped over her shoulders, finished with some statement silver hoops and classic black sunglasses. It was a perfect mix of feminine and tough, and honestly, a really inspiring outfit.

She explained in a TikTok video posted on September 30, 2024, that she’d eaten too much the day before and was feeling upset about it. She was working on being kinder to herself, reminding herself that her body needed fuel and that she deserved to feel good, both physically and mentally.

The singer has been sharing workout motivation on TikTok, including a recent post detailing her strategies for staying determined during exercise.
While working out on the Stairmaster, I challenged myself with a higher level than usual,” the actress shared in October 2024. “I realized I was pushing too hard and had to slow down to keep going. It reminded me that when you feel like quitting, it’s often because you need to ease up and be kinder to yourself.”

Lizzo announced on Instagram on January 25, 2025, that she’s reached a weight goal she’s been working towards. She hadn’t seen that number on the scale since 2014 and shared it as motivation, saying you can achieve anything you set your mind to. She’s now looking forward to setting new goals!

Lizzo looked hella good in Christian Siriano at the 2025 Vanity Fair Oscar Party March 2.

Back in action as the musical guest on Saturday Night Live April 12, 2025.

Lizzo posted a before-and-after comparison on July 3, 2025, showing the results of her lymphatic massages – the first one she had with Flavia Lanini and a more recent one.
She attributes her improved health to a combination of treatments and lifestyle changes. These included a specialized treatment to reduce swelling and remove toxins, along with wood therapy, regular exercise (three times a week), activities like pickleball and dancing, staying hydrated, reducing sugar intake, increasing protein consumption, monthly detoxes, and other positive adjustments to her daily routine.
