Lizzo Details “Beautiful Balance” of Weight Loss Journey

In the process of her weight loss transformation, the “Juice” singer shares insights into how she balances preserving elements of her favorite lifestyle habits with her health objectives, labeling it as a highly sustainable approach.

In a recent conversation with Women’s Health, Lizzo articulated a wonderful equilibrium: “It feels like, when you give yourself permission to have something, you can appreciate it without going overboard and causing harm.” She expressed her immense satisfaction in having conquered this challenge.

And the 37-year-old emphasized that her good as hell mindset hasn’t wavered amid her journey. 

She clarified, “Body positivity isn’t about remaining unchanged; rather, it represents a bold assertion of self-worth in a world that has often made you feel unwelcome.

As Lizzo put it, “I got the same belly, the same thighs—I think I’m just a smaller version.”

Apart from her physical transformation, the Grammy winner’s philosophy encompasses a broader perspective. Notably, she has shared that she has learned to maintain a healthier equilibrium in dealing with criticism or backlash.

She mentioned during a podcast in June that she’s faced a great deal of criticism or negative reactions, although she prefers not to use the term “canceled” since she continues to thrive. However, she has encountered a lot of pushback.

In simpler terms, the artist behind “Truth Hurts” shared that her ups and downs in her career serve as her inspiration. She described these challenging experiences as opportunities for growth and education. Every instance of criticism she’s faced, she turns into a valuable lesson to learn from.

Starting from 2023, Lizzo has been less visible due to a lawsuit brought against her by her former backup dancers. Later on, she was removed from the case and maintained her innocence throughout the legal process.

Despite the setback, the “2 Be Loved (Am I Ready)” singer found power in rolling with the punches. 

She stated during a Fortune summit in October that she feels she has been removed from everything at this stage, only God could potentially remove her next. She added that she speaks about matters that matter to her, and areas where she can make a difference, and these have become her personal limits when it comes to engaging with the public.

Lizzo has shared that she’s been in on “intentional weight release journey” since 2023.

In the same year, she was involved in a lawsuit brought forward by some of her previous backup dancers. They alleged that she had established a toxic, abusive work atmosphere and made derogatory comments about their weights, which she firmly refuted.

She shared that she experiences body shaming regularly. Moreover, she assures that she would never judge or dismiss an employee based on their weight.

During the interval between her albums, the artist known as “About Damn Time” shared in August 2024 that she would be having a break, or as she put it, a “gap year,” to safeguard her tranquility.

Lizzo admittedly has her ups and downs when it comes to her body.

In an interview with The New York Times in April 2024, she candidly admitted, “I won’t pretend to love my body each and every day. Truth be told, how I feel about my body can shift dramatically from one day to the next. Some days I absolutely cherish it, while other times, I don’t always view it in a completely favorable light.

On September 18, 2024, Lizzo shared a TikTok video featuring her transformation. The clip began with her image in a black two-piece, followed by a switch to her wearing a gray bodysuit.

As she captioned the clip, “Fine both ways.”

Translated: “Lizzo jokingly commented on Instagram, ‘After 5 months of weight training and calorie deficit, I’m now facing Ozempic allegations,’ she posted on Sept. 20.

On September 27th, the Grammy-winning artist was spotted having lunch at Nobu while donning a semi-transparent black-and-white dress by Jean Paul Gaultier underneath a black bodysuit. She accessorized the ensemble with a leather trench coat slung over her shoulders, oversized silver hoop earrings, and dark sunglasses.

She confessed on TikTok on September 30, 2024, about indulging too much the day before, and it left her feeling quite guilty. She’s working hard to remember that her body requires nutrients, and if it deserves care, then her mind does as well.

The artist has been heavily focused on fitness inspiration for TikTok, even sharing a video detailing her methods for powering through workouts.

In October 2024, the star shared that she was using a Stairmaster at a more challenging level than usual. To prevent herself from quitting prematurely, she decided to slow down a bit. She also mentioned that when one feels like giving up, it’s often because they’ve been pushing themselves too hard. Her advice was not to give up, but instead, be kinder to yourself and take things at an easier pace.

Lizzo posted on Instagram on January 25, 2025, “I achieved it!” She revealed that she had finally met her weight loss goal when she stepped onto the scale today. This number hasn’t appeared since 2014! Let this serve as a reminder that you can accomplish anything if you set your mind to it. Now, it’s time to establish new goals!

On the 3rd of July, 2025, Lizzo posted a comparison between her initial lymphatic massage session with Flavia Lanini and her most recent one.

She attributed her health improvement to several factors: a treatment that focuses on eliminating excess fluid from tissues by guiding it towards lymph vessels and nodes, where it can be flushed out with toxins; weekly sessions of wood therapy, pickleball, dancing; increased water intake; reduced sugar consumption and higher protein intake; monthly detoxification; as well as other modifications in her lifestyle.
