Superman, followed by a larger role in Justice League, and then his solo Aquaman film – suggest a gradual reintroduction. He hopes to eventually get another solo movie, but believes it depends on whether fans really connect with and demand more of the character.

Jason Momoa explained that a solo Lobo movie would need to be rated R, but emphasized the importance of first building a dedicated fanbase. He believes you can’t immediately release a hard-R film and expect a large audience; you need to gradually introduce the character and story. When asked about potential comic book storylines he’d like to use, Momoa chose not to reveal any details at this time.

What Will Lobo’s DCU Future Be?

Whether Supergirl will be a hit with critics and audiences is still unknown, but Jason Momoa’s portrayal of Lobo already looks like a standout part of the movie. The trailers show Momoa clearly enjoying himself and bringing his usual energetic personality to the character. Although Momoa says Lobo’s role is small, he’s likely to make a big impact, potentially leading to more appearances in future films.

The bigger mystery is where Lobo will appear next. While Jason Momoa hasn’t been officially added to the cast of Man of Tomorrow, it’s unlikely we’ll see his version of the character in theaters next summer unless something unexpected happens. While an R-rated Lobo movie could be great, it might not happen for a while. DC Studios is focusing on making a few high-quality films each year – only one or two – so they have limited space for new projects. Films like The Brave and the Bold (a new Batman movie) and a new Wonder Woman film are likely to be prioritized, as DC wants to introduce its core heroes first. However, if someone presents James Gunn with a compelling idea for Lobo, it could move forward quickly.
