Among Marvel’s TV shows, Loki is one of the most beloved. Over two seasons, the series transformed Loki from a villain, as audiences first saw him in The Avengers, into a true hero. He ultimately found meaning by sacrificing himself to protect the different timelines of the multiverse at the end of Season 2. Now, with Tom Hiddleston reprising his role in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday movie, Loki has achieved a rare feat – only four other shows, including one other Marvel series, have ever reached this milestone.
The series Loki recently reached a milestone on Letterboxd, being watched by at least one million members of the platform. It was added to the Letterboxd One Million Watched Club on December 19th, joining popular titles like Adolescence, WandaVision, The Queen’s Gambit, and Squid Game. As of now, Loki is number 652 on the combined list of films and TV shows that have achieved this level of viewership.
Loki’s Continued Popularity Isn’t a Surprise (Especially With Avengers: Doomsday on the Horizon)
Even though Loki finished airing in 2023, it’s still widely watched more than two years later. This is likely because all of Marvel’s TV shows, including Loki, are easily accessible on Disney+, allowing viewers to watch or re-watch them. Plus, 2026 promises to be a significant year for the Marvel Cinematic Universe with several new shows like Wonder Man, Daredevil: Born Again season 2, The Punisher, and Vision Quest on the way. The movie slate is also packed, with Spider-Man: Brand New releasing in July and the highly anticipated Avengers: Doomsday coming in December. Early previews of Avengers: Doomsday are even being shown with Avatar: Fire and Ash, which could generate renewed interest in Loki.
As a huge Marvel fan, I was so surprised to hear Loki is coming back in Avengers Doomsday! Honestly, after everything that happened in Loki – him taking over the Time Variance Authority and becoming this powerful guardian of the timelines – even Tom Hiddleston thought that was the end of his character’s journey. It’s exciting to think about what they’ll do with him now that he’s finally found his purpose. With Avengers: Doomsday still shrouded in mystery, it feels like a perfect moment to look back at Loki’s incredible story and see where they take it next – I have a feeling this could really elevate the series to a whole new level of popularity!
