Lonely Island’s Jorma Taccone Shatters Pelvis After Ladder Accident

Jorma Taccone is on the mend.

At the Connecticut farmhouse, a member of The Lonely Island group revealed that he suffered a broken pelvis when he fell twenty feet off a ladder during preparations for his daughter’s fifth birthday celebration.

During the September 2nd episode of his podcast, The Lonely Island & Seth Meyers, Jorma shared an anecdote about his painting project. He had been working on a barn and thought, “What would make it perfect is some lights around the roof edge.” So, he climbed up a ladder he’d borrowed from his neighbor who then warned him, “Hey, that ladder isn’t safe. It doesn’t have a base to stabilize it.

He went on to say, “I replied, ‘Don’t worry, it will be fine,'” as he precariously balanced about 20 feet up a shaky ladder with it positioned diagonally. Suddenly, it seemed to weaken and I had a feeling of impending doom, like it was going to collapse. At that instant, all my memories rushed through my mind.

Reflecting on the incident, the man (who founded the comedy group with long-time friends Andy Samberg and Akiva Schaffer back in 2001) stated that as he was falling, he had a moment of realization where he contemplated, “I’m about to meet my end.

He remembers saying something like, “‘This is going to be very painful,'” as he recounts the incident. Upon falling directly onto his rear end, he absorbed all the force there. Afterwards, he let out many shouts and expletives.

Jorma said, “I was already feeling somewhat stunned, so when I fell, I ended up entangled in a ladder. I had a strong suspicion that something terrible had happened. Upon reaching the hospital, it was confirmed that I’d fractured my pelvis on the left side.

During the pause, he mentioned that his sacrum – the triangular bone located at the bottom of the spinal column – had become disconnected from his vertebrae.

As a lifestyle expert, I’d put it this way: The comedian, in spite of his life-altering accident, remains optimistic, expressing that with intensive rehabilitation, doctors predict he could regain mobility within 3 to 6 months. This means he’s confidently looking forward to getting back to all the usual activities he enjoys.

Despite finding the incident quite serious, Jorma joked about it, saying, “It wasn’t the best way to kick off the day,” alluding to his fall happening just before their daughter’s birthday celebration with Marielle Heller.

Simultaneously, Jorma’s podcast partners expressed their worry about his well-being while he is still on the road to recovery.

Akiva made it clear, “Your positive demeanor while sharing the news is commendable, but as someone who’s only recently learned about it, it’s heart-wrenching. I feel compelled to express that we’ve all been deeply concerned. This past week has been incredibly frightening for everyone.

As Jorma continues to recover, read on for more scary health scares.

In 2014, the actress from “12 Years a Slave” was diagnosed with uterine fibroids, which are benign growths that form within or near the uterus. This was the very year she was awarded an Oscar for her outstanding performance in that film.

Yet, it wasn’t until the year 2025 that she revealed her diagnosis, sharing on Instagram that she had endured her condition quietly for over a decade.

She expressed that as we go through puberty, it’s often made known to us that periods come with pain, and this discomfort is just an inevitable aspect of being female. However, what many women experience is a struggle they endure on their own regarding something that significantly impacts them.

In July 2025, a member of the band Daisy Jones & The Six announced that they had been admitted to the hospital due to a hernia, which is an issue involving a torn or weakened muscle in the abdomen or groin region, likely brought on by wearing skin-tight trousers.

She wrote on X, “You haven’t posted on Twitter in a while,” and added, “Remember how I had to go to the hospital 6 months ago because my pants were too tight and gave me a hernia? I’ve been hesitant to tell you about it because I was scared.

Adam Devine revealed that the injuries he endured from being struck by a cement truck at age 11 continue to impact him till the present time.

In a 2025 episode of the “In Depth With Graham Bensinger” podcast, Devine expressed that it has been an extremely difficult ordeal for him. He explained that he has been experiencing spasms throughout his body and was given the grim news by doctors that he might not survive – they indicated this could happen within the last year.

He mentioned that pain appears intermittently, implying, “There are some irregularities and issues in my body that aren’t quite right.

Previously a member of Bachelor Nation, he revealed that his recent hospital visit occurred when he was crawling on the floor, stricken by intense lower back pain that worsened during a camping trip with a buddy in an RV.

In the March 2025 episode of his Trading Secrets podcast, he remarked, “At this moment, from my knees to my toes, it feels unusually tingly, which is quite extraordinary.” He went on to explain, “To clarify, about two to four weeks ago, I was likely squatting around 295 pounds. Yet, today, I’m unable to do a squat with just one foot. I even struggle with a one-legged squat; if I attempt it, I might topple over. It feels as though I’ve had a stroke or something similar.

But with the help of a back specialist and some steroids, he added, “We’re on the mend.”

During the party, someone else recklessly discharged their weapon towards us, unfortunately striking me in the face. Instantly, @thebrendanrooney took action, evaluated my condition, and swiftly transported me to the hospital. I was wounded in five spots; one bullet came dangerously close to hitting me right in the eye.

The former star of “Kim Possible” added, “Regrettably, a piece has become stuck near my eye and it’s not safe to take out through surgery right now. My doctors are keeping close tabs on me, but I can see fine for now.

The actress expressed her gratitude for being alive, saying, “I deeply cherish my daughters, husband, family, and friends. A moment ago, I felt like I was seeing my life pass by me, and let me tell you, take every opportunity to hug the people close to you. Life can suddenly take a turn.

In a recent interview on Call Her Daddy, comedian Amy Schumer expressed gratitude towards the internet for helping her uncover a medical mystery. After facing criticism online following several media appearances, doctors began commenting on her appearance and suggesting she might have Cushing syndrome. This condition, they said, could be due to increased cortisol levels or steroid injections. Upon realizing she had been receiving steroid injections for scar treatments following surgeries such as a breast reduction and C-section, Amy connected the dots and discovered that this was likely causing her Cushing syndrome. Though initially taken aback by being trolled by doctors, Amy is now relieved to know she’s healthy and will recover from the condition on its own.

In his words, “We’ve been fortunate. frankly, I wouldn’t wish this ordeal on any parent.

Hailey Bieber experienced a terrifying incident in March 2022 during breakfast with her husband, Justin Bieber. As she began experiencing symptoms similar to a stroke, she found herself unable to respond or speak properly, with one side of her face drooping. Despite the temporary resolution of these symptoms, Hailey went to the hospital for checks and was diagnosed with a small blood clot in her brain (Transient Ischemic Attack – TIA). Further investigations revealed that she had a hole in her heart called patent foramen ovale (PFO), through which the blood clot had traveled from her heart to her brain. Hailey underwent a successful PFO closure procedure and is now feeling well again.

In the same year, Hailey encountered a health crisis, Justin Bieber also faced a health issue, specifically Ramsay Hunt syndrome. This condition led to temporary paralysis in parts of his face, causing him to postpone the rest of his Justice World Tour. He explained on Instagram that this rare virus attacked the nerve in his ear and facial nerves, resulting in full paralysis on one side of his face. Eating became increasingly difficult for him, but fortunately, the paralysis eventually subsided. During an episode of Good Morning America in June 2022, Hailey shared that Justin was recovering well and felt much better, despite the sudden and frightening incident. She expressed her gratitude that he was alright.

Initially, Jamie Foxx chose not to disclose much about his hospitalization in April 2023. However, during his 2024 Netflix special “What Had Happened Was…,” he shared details of the incident. In Atlanta, he experienced a severe headache and asked for an aspirin, but before he could get it, he lost consciousness for about 20 days.

Upon being taken to a doctor, he was given a cortisone shot and sent home. Concerned, his sister Deidra Dixon then drove him to the hospital where they discovered he had suffered a brain bleed that led to a stroke. After undergoing surgery on the 4th of May, Foxx woke up in a wheelchair unable to walk. He then traveled to Chicago for rehabilitation and therapy.

He expressed his gratitude for every prayer during this challenging time, acknowledging their importance in helping him through it.

In simpler terms, the reality TV personality disclosed that she momentarily stopped breathing while completing a mile run during the opening event of the NBC show competition.

As a lifestyle expert, I’d rephrase that poignant statement as follows: “During my time on Fit for TV: The Reality of The Biggest Loser, my memory is somewhat hazy. I recall the distinct sound of a helicopter and an overwhelming sensation of weightlessness. Then, my beloved grandpa appeared, followed by a period of darkness. Yet, amidst the darkness, a glimmer of light emerged, leading me to believe that I had somehow transcended.

She went on to explain, ‘My body was essentially failing, my organs were on the verge of collapse.’ Unbeknownst to her, she had developed a condition called rhabdomyolysis. Essentially, this means that her body was signaling impending failure.

As a devoted follower putting it in first person perspective, I, Emilia Clarke, filmed fierce battles for the renowned series Game of Thrones. However, my life took an unexpected turn in 2019 when I penned an essay titled “A Battle for My Life,” published in The New Yorker.

One fateful day at the gym, a severe headache struck, leading me to the bathroom where I became violently ill. The pain intensified, described as shooting, stabbing, and constricting. Deep down, I understood my brain was injured.

Rushed to the hospital for a scan, the verdict was swift and grim: a subarachnoid hemorrhage, a critical type of stroke caused by bleeding in the brain’s surrounding area. In medical terms, I had suffered an aneurysm, an arterial rupture.

Enduring unbearable pain, I underwent immediate surgery to seal the aneurysm. While recuperating, I struggled with aphasia and found myself uttering senseless words.

A week later, the aphasia subsided, and I was discharged from the hospital a month after admission. However, a 2013 brain scan revealed that the growth had doubled in size, necessitating another surgery.

When they revived me post-surgery, I was writhing in pain. The doctors informed me that the procedure hadn’t gone as planned-there was a massive bleed, and my survival prospects were grim if they didn’t operate again. This time, they needed to access my brain through the traditional method: my skull.

Fortunately, I am now fully recovered and back at 100%.

Snoop Dogg’s daughter, Cori Broadus, expresses her gratitude towards her family following a severe stroke in January 2024. When she informed them about the incident through text and a picture, they immediately rushed to her aid. Due to additional health complications, Cori had to spend more time at the hospital than anticipated. She explained, “I could have gone home after my stroke, but my lupus wasn’t doing well. My kidneys were failing. There was a lot going on.” Today, she is recovering well and stated, “I’m doing great. I just had to regain some motor skills, but otherwise, I was fine.

Shailene Woodley’s 20s were marked by significant health challenges. In her own words, during an episode of the SHE MD Podcast in September 2024, she described experiencing hearing loss, extreme fatigue, and stomach issues. She explained, “It was a mix of various health problems and diagnoses from different doctors.”

Determined to find solutions, Shailene-who has a holistic background and studies herbalism-decided to collaborate with both conventional medical professionals and independent healers. This journey spanned over a decade, during which she also grappled with the emotional fallout of her physical discomfort.

As she shared, “This prolonged physical distress led to fears about food, which in turn resulted in body dysmorphia, identity confusion, and a struggle to feel safe and comfortable in my own skin.”

After addressing both her physical and mental health concerns, Shailene reported feeling much improved. She concluded, “Thankfully, this journey eventually led to a resolution of my physical health issues, and I am now very healthy and happy.
