The highly anticipated open-world RPG from Xbox is finally coming out this year after a six-year wait, and it will be available to Xbox Game Pass subscribers on day one. The game was originally announced in 2020, but rumors about it have circulated since 2018, making the wait feel even longer. Thankfully, if there are no further delays, the release is just around the corner, and Game Pass subscribers are thrilled.
A popular post on the Xbox Game Pass Reddit page is generating a lot of excitement about the games coming in 2026. Subscribers are especially looking forward to the new Fable reboot, developed by Playground Productions and Xbox Game Studios.
Fable Carrying the Xbox Game Pass 2026 Lineup
One commenter said that Fable is the only game on the list they’re interested in, and they’d happily pay $60 – about the cost of two months of Game Pass – to get it. They don’t think the other games are worth the money. Another person expressed excitement for Fable, Forza Horizon 6, and a remastered version of the original Halo campaign.
Someone pointed out that this game was originally announced around the same time as the first games for the Xbox Series X, which was a long time ago. While Game Pass subscribers are looking forward to it, there’s still a question of whether it will actually come out in 2026.
Will Fable Be Delayed Out of 2026?
The release of Fable has been pushed back a few times by Playground Games and Xbox. However, Xbox has confirmed it’s still planned for release in 2026, and reports suggest there won’t be any further delays. Xbox is even planning to showcase the game later this month, and it’s expected to be a major highlight of an upcoming Xbox event. While it currently seems set for a 2026 launch, the game’s development hasn’t been easy, so nothing is certain. Many Xbox Game Pass subscribers would be upset if the game were delayed again.
Hesitation on Whether It Will Deliver
Many Xbox fans are looking forward to the release of Fable, but there’s also a lot of uncertainty. The game’s trailer has received nearly as many dislikes as likes, and it’s important to remember that the developer, Playground Games – known for the Forza Horizon series – hasn’t created a game of this type before. This raises concerns that what’s currently one of the most anticipated Xbox Game Pass games of 2026 could end up being a major disappointment.
So, that’s my take on things! I’d love to hear what you guys think, so drop a comment and let me know, or come chat about it with everyone else over on the ComicBook Forum.
