Publisher CI Games and developer Hexworks have announced that Lords of the Fallen 2 will feature music by award-winning composer Walter Mair. Announced back in 2024, Lords of the Fallen 2 will be a sequel to 2023’s Lords of the Fallen, and is in development for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. The game is slated for a 2026 release, and its PC version will be published by Epic Games.
Walter Mair has had a storied career, having worked on a wide range of projects, ranging from small ensemble and electronic pieces to epic orchestrations with 80-piece choirs. Most recently, Mair worked on the original score for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 in 2023.
Mair has also worked on composing music for other mediums. Among other projects, Mair has worked on Apple+ series Liaison, as well as action thriller The Bricklayer, and thriller Infinite. He has also won Telly awards for Best Original Music for his work on scoring Call of Duty: Mobile and Netflix documentary series Formula 1: Drive to Survive.
While development on Lords of the Fallen 2 is still under way and not too many details about the game have been revealed as of yet, CI Games marketing director Ryan Hill revealed during an investor Q&A back in January that the title will be developed to be more appealing to the western market in various ways, including with visual style and westernised storytelling.
“Project 3 will address all core player feedback from Lords of the Fallen (2023) while also doubling down on the features players loved most,” said Hill. “It will take a quality over quantity approach, with greater appeal to a wider addressable market with improved onboarding, a more inviting visual style, and westernized storytelling.”
In the meantime, CI Games and Hexworks don’t plan on stopping its post-launch support for 2023’s Lords of the Fallen. In the same Q&A, CI Games senior vice president of development Tom O’Connor spoke about retaining a fan base for the franchise with more “meaningful updates” that also address feedback from players.
“To continue maximizing sales of Lords of the Fallen 2023 in line with strategic markdowns and the continued release of meaningful updates up to v2.0 in response to player feedback and external user testing,” said O’Connor when talking about the company’s business plans for the rest of the year.
O’Connor also said that Project 3 – Lords of the Fallen 2 – was in full production. He said that the title will see extensive player testing. Other titles like Sniper Ghost Warrior Evolved and Project H were also in pre-production.
“With regards to our titles in development – we have Project 3 in full production, the next instalment in the Lords of the Fallen franchise and during this year, will have extensive player testing to ensure we achieve high-quality and maximize the game’s potential,” he said. “Both Sniper Ghost Warrior Evolved and Project H are in pre-production, and we are closing in on the vision for these titles, with more details to follow at a later date.”
Lords of the Fallen is available on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Check out our review for more details.
