A man named Champ—identified by his family to KHOU 11—died when a silver BMW traveling the wrong way on the highway crashed into his Tesla Cybertruck. The BMW immediately caught fire after the collision, and Champ’s Tesla then hit a semi-truck.

Champ was rushed to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, but sadly passed away there. The driver of the BMW was pronounced dead at the scene, and the truck driver was unharmed, officials reported.

After hearing the heartbreaking news, Kalysha confirmed the passing of her soon-to-be ex-husband, Champ, with whom she shares a 3-year-old daughter named Amari, in a heartfelt message.

I am heartbroken to share the news that my husband, Jamar Champ, has unexpectedly passed away. He was the father of our wonderful daughters. We are a family in deep grief, and I ask that you respect our privacy as we support each other and remember him.

We’re so grateful for all your support, thoughts, and love during this incredibly difficult time.

The television personality, who is also a mother to 9-year-old Khari with Fetty Wap, described what it was like when she first learned the news.

She posted on X that she was woken up at 2:00 am and couldn’t fall back asleep. She then shared that she’d just received devastating news and asked for prayers for herself and her children.

Kalysha revealed that she and her husband, Champ, who got married in 2021, were separated for the entire year of 2023.

She revealed in a December 2023 Instagram Live that she’s still in the process of getting divorced. While she prefers to keep her personal life private, she felt compelled to respond to others who were trying to create a false narrative about her life and achievements, calling their behavior ‘asinine and sad’.

I just want everyone to know that I’m doing incredibly well. Honestly, I’ve never been happier! Getting out of a relationship with a narcissist was the best thing I could have done – it was a truly awful experience, and one I never want to repeat. I’m done talking about it, but I want people to understand how much better things are for me now.

In November 2024, Kalysha revealed she and Champ were nearing divorce. She shared with Young, Bold and Regal that she had participated in mediation with her “soon-to-be ex-husband.”
