Vic St. John and Christine Hamilton prove that love knows no bounds, whether they’re in Malibu or Cabo San Lucas.
Vic and Christine, the only couple from season 10 of Love Is Blind to remain in the US for their post-show trip, are clarifying what happened. They were originally scheduled to go to Cabo, but plans changed.
Christine, 31, shared with TopMob News that after the initial announcements, a meeting with the production team confirmed her trip to Mexico and the departure time. However, that quickly changed. She said they then told her she hadn’t been selected, and her storyline wouldn’t continue, meaning the trip to Mexico was off.
Even though the couple wasn’t initially filmed—something the show’s creator, Chris Coelen, had explained was due to limited resources—the producers realized their connection was extraordinary and ultimately decided to document their journey anyway.
I remember Christine telling us that the producers basically said they loved our connection and really believed in us – they thought it was something special. Then, as a way to potentially help us, they offered to film in Malibu. It felt like a huge sign they were invested in our story!
Okay, so when the speech therapist heard my idea – for him, for Vic, my Vic – she instantly loved it! She was so excited, which, honestly, made me even more excited. But then she admitted she was a little worried Vic, being 34 and… well, Vic, might not be as thrilled. I mean, can you believe it? Worried he wouldn’t get it! But I know he will. I have to believe he will.
I was definitely nervous at first, wondering if Vic would even want to continue. I kept thinking, ‘What if he wants to go back home to Ohio?’ I had a quick moment of doubt about how he’d react. I remember the production team coming to my hotel room and setting up a FaceTime call. I was so relieved when I saw his face light up; it instantly put me at ease.
She continued, recalling how he had asked, “Are we going to Malibu?” and she had replied, “Yes, we are going to Malibu.”

Although Vic wasn’t able to travel to Cabo with the rest of the cast – including Amber Morrison and Jordan Faeth, Ashley Carpenter and Alex Henderson, Brianna “Breezy” McNees and Connor Spies, Emma Betsinger and Mike Gibney, Jessica Barrett and Chris Fucco, and Devonta Anderson and Brittany Wicker – she felt the trip to Malibu was just as meaningful.
The professor explained that going to Mexico would have likely resulted in a similar experience, but with more interaction with other people’s stories. She didn’t think this would have hindered their connection, as she and Christine are able to easily connect and enjoy each other’s company no matter the setting.

According to Vic, the pair spent their time in Malibu relaxing – they’d watch YouTube videos for about six hours, listen to music, and simply talk and get to know each other while lying in bed.
He believes Malibu likely offered a positive influence to other couples. They may have felt energized by being around them, and they would have gladly provided that support.
I was so thrilled to see that trip really brought Vic and Christine together! It was amazing watching their connection grow, and I nearly cried when they said ‘I do’ in the season 10 finale. Now, you can find out how they’re doing as a married couple – the Love Is Blind season 10 reunion is out now, and it’s a must-watch!

Contestants on Love Is Blind do receive payment for being on the show. According to former participant Matthew Duliba, they each earn $5,000 specifically for the ‘pod’ portion of the experience.
Most of the financial gain from being on the show comes from sponsorship deals after filming. For example, Deepti Vempati and Natalie Lee, both from season two, each earned around $500,000 as social media influencers within two years of their episodes airing in 2022.
Contestants on the show sleep arrangements have changed over the seasons. In season one, they slept on cots in trailers near the lounge areas. For season two, Netflix provided hotel rooms for more comfort. Staff always accompany them to and from the rooms to prevent any secret interactions between contestants.
In a TikTok video from 2025, season four’s Micah Lussier revealed that the show isn’t filmed in a real house. She explained that the contestants actually stay in a hotel, and the ‘pods’ are just a set built in a studio. The bathrooms, she added, are located in trailers outside the main set.

Contestants on the reality show aren’t allowed to use their phones until after they’ve finished filming the tropical vacation segment.
Shayne Jansen shared of their vacations, “You don’t have your phone or anything on you.”
The “pods” part of the experiment typically lasts around 10 days, starting with 40 to 50 people looking for love. However, not everyone makes it through the entire process, as some participants are eliminated along the way.
To give the most promising connections more time, we narrowed down the number of people participating in the pods,” explained Chris Coelen, creator of Love Is Blind. “We were left with around 20 to 25 people at that stage.”
As a dedicated viewer, I remember how the initial dates were structured! It was like a really fast speed-dating session – everyone got about eight to ten minutes with each person they were matched with. After that first round, things opened up, and you could talk to anyone you wanted, for as long as you wanted, but with a catch! Production had to set up every conversation because the singles weren’t allowed to communicate directly outside of those special ‘pods’.

Sal Perez, a contestant from season two, revealed that singles receive suggested topics and questions before their dates, but they aren’t required to follow them.
Kyle Abrams explained in an interview with TopMob News that they had some conversation starters prepared. He said if the conversation slowed down, they could easily use a small notebook to find new topics to talk about.
However, the show wasn’t scripted at all. As contestant Kelly Chase explained to Business Insider, it felt unbelievable even to those participating, but the cast wasn’t given a script.
Kelly shared that one of her favorite parts of filming was the food – contestants had plenty of choices to eat while in the pods.
She explained that for the first ten days of shooting, the crew had a wide variety of catered meals to choose from, including grilled fish, chicken, steak, along with vegetables, pasta, rice, and fruit.

As a long-time viewer, I’ve noticed something interesting about the show: all the proposals actually happen on the same day! The producers sometimes show them out of order in the episodes, though, which I think is smart – it keeps things from feeling too repetitive if they aired everything back-to-back.
According to Kelly, a popular trend involves proposing to your partner on a specific day, followed by a short, supervised meeting the next day. After that brief 15-minute encounter with their newly-engaged partner, couples go their separate ways and don’t see each other again for several days – a situation Kelly describes as ‘crazy’.
9. Where do the engagement rings come from?
The creator explained to Entertainment Weekly in 2025 that once the rings are given to the recipients, they are a gift. There’s no expectation of return, even if the relationship ends. The rings belong to them, and they are free to say they purchased them if they choose.

10. Hosts Vanessa Lachey and Nick Lachey are no longer allowed to be at the reveals.
Back in those days, we were all present for the premieres,” Vanessa explained to Parade in 2025. “When the cast would walk the red carpet, it was me, Nick, our hair and makeup team, the costume designers, and the sound crew – the whole team was there to support them.
But it ended up being “probably 50 people” in the room, which detracted from the romance.
It became too chaotic,” Vanessa explained. “After that, they decided to limit the reveal to just the couple and the camera crew, wanting to keep the focus on their special moment.”

Producers were hoping for a few engagements in the first season and didn’t anticipate more than five couples getting engaged. However, eight couples actually got engaged after the initial ‘pod’ stage. Because of this unexpected number, the show couldn’t continue filming the journeys of the additional two couples.
We really wanted to showcase a wide range of stories,” Coelen explained. “It was amazing to see so many genuine connections form, with people finding what felt like lifelong partners. We had more than enough material, but unfortunately, we simply didn’t have the time within the show to tell all of those stories, which is a real shame.

Rory Newbrough and Danielle Drouin were one of the engaged couples on the show. While the other couples filmed in Mexico, Rory and Danielle spent a week in Miami. However, shortly after returning to Atlanta, they broke up on good terms. Danielle realized she still had feelings for another cast member, Matt Thomas, and wanted to explore that connection. Ultimately, Danielle and Matt’s relationship didn’t work out either, as Rory explained to People magazine.
Another relationship that formed during the first season, but wasn’t shown on TV, was between Westley Baer, who talked about dating as a shorter man, and Lexie Skipper. They dated for three months after filming in Atlanta, but Westley later told People magazine that they broke up because he decided to change careers and move to Asia, selling all of his belongings to do so.
Two couples from season two—Caitlin McKee and Joey Miller, and Kara Williams and Jason Beaumont—also got engaged, but their engagements weren’t shown on the show.

14. Are constants allowed to talk when there’s not cameras around?
As a lifestyle expert who’s been on set a few times, let me tell you, privacy is pretty limited! When contestants are in those individual ‘pod’ areas, there are cameras always running. And even when people are relaxing in the lounge, the producers prefer quiet – they don’t want conversations happening off-camera. It’s all about making sure they capture every important moment of the story, so any chatter could mean missing key plot points.
She said the experience in Mexico is similar.
She explained that they wouldn’t have any private moments or conversations away from the cameras until they were left alone together for the first time that night. That first night would be the first opportunity for a real, off-camera conversation.
But when they go home, there’s more freedom to speak without being filmed.
She explained that because filming happened almost every day, the cast and crew had plenty of downtime to connect with each other privately, away from the cameras.

15. Who pays for the wedding dresses?
I was so glad to hear Micah talking about the costumes! He explained that the production team actually covers the cost of the dresses. He reminisced about a time when they had a selection of dresses already included in the budget that we could pick from – apparently, there were tons of options! It’s great knowing they put so much thought and resources into the wardrobe.
They could have chosen to buy a more expensive dress, but according to the season four star, no one ever took that option.
Regarding wedding costs, a Netflix representative told Women’s Health that while the show provides some basic supplies, the couples are responsible for any additional expenses and covering costs beyond that. This means the couples probably had to pay for anything that went over budget themselves.

Even though some people doubted the marriages were real, they are legally binding. Lauren Speed from season one confirmed to Refinery29 that it’s “a real, legally binding marriage. This is not for TV. This is our life.”
The order in which people say ‘I do’ or ‘I don’t’ during the ceremony isn’t decided randomly; Micah explained that the production crew actually decides who goes first.
Micah explained that it isn’t up to the person performing the ceremony to choose who answers first. He believes they’ll ask the person they think is more likely to agree, as that way they’ll immediately have a response from two people.
Without that initial opportunity, she explained, you miss out on the excitement of hearing someone’s first ‘yes’ and the surprise that comes with it.

Were the reality show contestants required to actually go through with the weddings? According to show creator Chris Coelen, no. He explained to TopMob News that cast members were free to make their own choices. Coelen admitted he genuinely didn’t know what would happen on the wedding day, given everything he knew about the participants and their relationships.
So, why do couples on the show often wait until the wedding day to finally decide if they want to get married? Although they aren’t obligated to actually go through with the ceremony, many still proceed, even if they end up breaking things off.
Micah explained on TikTok that participating in ‘Love Is Blind’ wasn’t necessarily about getting married. It was about fully experiencing the experiment. Since the show is designed to test connections, she felt it was important to go through the entire process to see if a relationship could actually work. That was her reasoning for participating.

Why aren’t more couples from Love Is Blind getting married? After only one couple wed in season eight, executive producer Ally Simpson explained that it’s becoming harder to find genuinely good men willing to participate, largely due to the influence of social media. To help address this, former contestant Chelsea Griffin has joined the show’s casting team.

Some online rumors claimed that Mark Cuevas, the youngest bachelor from the first season, was secretly dating someone while filming the show. He later said these rumors weren’t true.
He explained on the Be There in Five podcast that he hadn’t been in a relationship at all. He was single both before and during filming the show, and didn’t have time for a relationship because he was focused on his own experience. He’d never had a girlfriend before, so it wasn’t something he was actively pursuing.
Kelly and Kenny Barnes revealed they didn’t intend to get married after the first season of filming. Kenny told People magazine that their engagement was simply a way to continue participating in the show, and they were both on board with that plan. Kelly also thought they would just keep dating, as they had discussed. However, Kenny unexpectedly confessed on their wedding day that he wasn’t ready for marriage emotionally. Kelly said she felt hurt and confused, as it went against their previous understanding.

Jessica Batten, who sparked a lot of debate among viewers on the first season of Love is Blind, recently revealed in an interview that she asked to leave the show, but producers wouldn’t let her.
“I mean, I had to stay,” she told EW. “I definitely had a conversation about leaving and I wasn’t able to do that. My dog got sick too, and almost died during the show, I had so much other stuff going on.”
She continued, “It was really frustrating because I kind of knew [Mark and I] weren’t going to get there. I definitely had some conversations and attempted to leave, but I wasn’t able to.”

The weddings featured in the first season were filmed in the fall of 2018. This meant that the two couples who chose to get married – Lauren and Cameron Hamilton, and Amber Pike and Matt Barnett – had to keep their relationships a secret for a year and a half before the show finally aired.

26. Love Is Blind could go on and on, with Coelen telling TopMob News, “I’m thinking season 15.”
Ever recognize Carlton Morton? He was previously on a reality show set in Atlanta – he worked as Cynthia Bailey’s assistant on The Real Housewives of Atlanta back in 2014. Those who watch Bravo might recall a memorable argument he had with Kenya Moore when she first joined the show.

Many viewers have wondered about the gold cups used in the show. Some thought they were meant to conceal how much liquid was left in a drink, making editing easier. However, according to creator Coelen, the cups were simply chosen because they looked good.
He told Variety that the show has a distinct style – viewers immediately recognize it as theirs. It genuinely follows the lives of the people featured, but it does so in a fun and approachable way, offering a lighthearted connection to their stories.
Deepti explained to TopMob News that they always serve their drinks in gold goblets, calling it a tradition that’s important to them.
