Lucasfilm Finds Replacement for Kathleen Kennedy, Claims Report

Rumors are circulating that Kathleen Kennedy might be replaced as the head of Lucasfilm. A recent industry report suggests Disney is already considering options, though neither Disney nor Lucasfilm has confirmed anything officially. The possibility has quickly become a hot topic of conversation.

Dave Filoni and Lynwen Brennan reportedly replacing Kathleen Kennedy at Lucasfilm

According to a new report from Puck News, Lucasfilm is likely facing a significant shift in leadership. Dave Filoni and Lynwen Brennan are anticipated to have much larger responsibilities at the studio.

Industry insider Matthew Belloni reports that Disney is expected to officially announce Kathleen Kennedy’s departure as president of Lucasfilm very soon. He says it’s been widely known for months that she would be leaving the position, and the announcement should come within the next couple of weeks.

According to reports, Filoni will now be in charge of the overall creative vision for Star Wars. Kathleen Kennedy, as president and general manager of Lucasfilm, will continue to manage the business side of things.

As a huge Star Wars fan, I was reading about the latest changes at Lucasfilm, and Matthew Belloni reported something really interesting. Apparently, Dave Filoni, who’s always been more of a creative force than a traditional boss, is getting some help from Lynwen Brennan, currently running the business side of things. But don’t worry, Filoni will still be the one calling the shots creatively – he’ll be the ultimate decision-maker for everything Star Wars, whether it’s movies, TV shows, or anything else they come up with.

As of now, no official statement has been issued by Lucasfilm or Kennedy regarding the report.

For a while now, ever since early 2025, there’s been talk about what Kathleen Kennedy’s next move would be. As president of Lucasfilm since Disney bought the company back in 2012, she’s been the driving force behind all the recent Star Wars films and the push into streaming. Well, according to a report I saw from Belloni, it seems like Kennedy has let Disney and those close to her know she plans to step down as president by the end of the year.

In a February 2025 interview with Deadline, Kennedy clarified that she doesn’t plan to retire. She explained she’s been collaborating with Disney leaders on a plan for who will take over in the future.
