You can now stream all four episodes of the new TV series Lynley, based on Elizabeth George’s books, on BBC iPlayer. Leo Suter stars as the lead character.

I have to admit, I really enjoyed Nathaniel Parker as Inspector Lynley in the old BBC series, especially with Sharon Small as Barbara Havers. It’s a bit different now though – Sofia Barclay is taking on the role of Barbara in this new adaptation, and it’s interesting to see her take on the character.

Leo Suter plays DI Tommy Lynley

Detective Inspector Tommy Lynley is a highly skilled police detective. However, his privileged background has always made him something of an outsider within the police force.

You might recognize Leo Suter from shows like Bad Education, Victoria, Beecham House, Clique, Sanditon, Vikings: Valhalla, and The Girlfriend. He’s also appeared in the films Maleficent and Christmas Karma.

Sofia Barclay plays DS Barbara Havers

Detective Sergeant Barbara Havers is a police officer known for her independent spirit and working-class roots. She’s partnered with Lynley, though not always by choice.

You might recognize Sofia Barclay from shows like Defending the Guilty, We Are Lady Parts, Ted Lasso, and Prime Target. She also appeared in the movie Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.

Daniel Mays plays DCI Brian Nies

Who is DCI Brian Nies? Brian is a DCI who has a difficult past with Lynley.

You might recognize Daniel Mays from a variety of popular films and TV shows. He’s appeared in movies like Vera Drake, Atonement, Dad’s Army, Rogue One, Fisherman’s Friends, 1917, Your Christmas or Mine, Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget, and The Thursday Murder Club. Niamh Walsh plays Helen Clyde
