News of M Night Shyamalan’s next film
Director M. Night Shyamalan faced a period of unsuccessful films, but has seen a comeback in the last ten years. This started with the 2015 hit The Visit, which made over $100 million on a $5 million budget. He’s followed that success with films like Split, Glass, Old, Cabin in the Woods, and Trap, all of which have helped revive his career. Now, news is emerging about his next project.
M Night Shyamalan’s next film will be…
The movie ‘Remain’ is a romantic drama and was the inspiration for Nicholas Sparks’ popular novel with the same title.
The cast…
M. Night Shyamalan’s upcoming film will star Jake Gyllenhaal and Phoebe Dynevor, known for her role in “Bridgerton.” The cast also includes Ashley Walters, Julie Hagerty, Jay O. Sanders, Tracy Ifeachor, Hannah James, Caleb Ruminer, Kieran Mulcare, and Maria Dizzia. Shyamalan and another writer, Sparks, both created works—a screenplay and a novel—based on the same initial love story.
The story behind its release date…
The film “Remain” was originally scheduled for release in October 2026, but will now arrive in cinemas on February 5th, 2027. This delay is due to the unexpectedly strong early ticket sales for Margot Robbie’s upcoming film, “Wuthering Heights,” which is set to be released around Valentine’s Day. Warner Bros. realized February, traditionally a slower month for movies, is now proving to be quite profitable for releases – the success of “Silence of the Lambs” released at the same time serves as a good example. Importantly, test audiences have given “Remain” the highest scores of director M. Night Shyamalan’s career, comparable to his hits like “The Sixth Sense” and “Unbreakable.”
Other movie studios are also planning to release films on the same February date as Judd Apatow’s new comedy with Glen Powell, including Disney’s “Ice Age: Boiling Point”.
