Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade: Every Celebrity, Moment You Missed

This year’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade was truly memorable, featuring an amazing performance, a funny moment with a fan of Al Roker, a surprise visit from Jessica Chastain, and plenty of other highlights.

Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb, both former hosts of the Today show, came together again to host the 99th Thanksgiving Day Parade on November 27th. The parade began with a performance of Nina Simone’s “Feeling Good” by Cynthia Erivo.

Cynthia kicked off the parade with a performance, then cut the ribbon, releasing a colorful procession of balloons – everything from Pikachu to a Tom the Turkey float – through the streets of Manhattan.

One of the highlights for me was definitely seeing Al introduce the incredible Radio City Rockettes! And it was such a heartwarming moment when he surprised a young fan with tickets to see them perform in New York City – truly magical!

As the Today weather presenter told the young girl, “Would you be excited to see the Rockettes?”

In response, the fan answered, “Yeah!”

But when Al presented the girl with her prize, she hilariously quipped, “I did that yesterday!”

Cynthia wasn’t the only artist to shine. Conan Gray performed his popular song “Vodka Cranberry,” and Jewel sang a portion of her classic hit, “You Were Meant For Me.” Ciara also took to Herald Square to perform “Low,” sporting a completely pink outfit.

During the event, Lil Jon performed a festive version of his hit song “Turn Down For What” with a special guest: DJ Giraffe, the Toys R Us mascot, who joined him on the store’s parade float. Instead of DJ Snake, who usually collaborates on the track, it was the giraffe who provided the musical accompaniment.

Oh my gosh, the Macy’s parade was AMAZING as usual, and they had performances from all my favorite Broadway shows! I was especially losing it during the Just In Time number. Jonathan Groff was incredible, and when he brought Bowen Yang out for a cameo?! I nearly screamed! Jonathan literally swept Bowen up and kissed his hand – it was the sweetest, most adorable moment ever, and Sarah Hyland and Sadie Dickerson were there too, looking fantastic. Seriously, I rewatched that part like a million times! And of course, Buena Vista Social Club was fantastic as well, but Bowen and Jonathan stole the show for me.

Oscar winner Jessica Chastain was spotted enjoying the parade’s performances, along with Matt Rogers, co-host of the Las Culturistas podcast. Eric André made it a family event, sharing photos with relatives from the parade’s VIP area and with comedian Hasan Minhaj.

Of course, the parade wasn’t complete until Santa Claus arrived to signal the start of the holiday season, just like Mariah Carey famously sings, “It’s time!”
